Align your credentials to federal project standards
Michael Baker International delivers contracts for federal and state agencies, so PMP certification and experience managing government-facing projects strengthens your profile significantly. Document deliverables, budgets overseen, and agency stakeholders before you apply.
Target roles tied to active infrastructure contracts
Program Manager openings at Michael Baker International are often tied to specific DOT, FHWA, or transit authority contracts. Applying when a relevant contract is active increases the likelihood your role qualifies as a specialty occupation under H-1B criteria.
Search open positions through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Program Manager openings at Michael Baker International that are tagged for visa sponsorship. It saves time screening postings that won't support your visa type before you invest in a full application.
Clarify the LCA wage level before negotiating
For H-1B filings, your employer submits a Labor Condition Application to DOL that locks in a prevailing wage level. Ask your recruiter which wage level they intend to file at, since Levels I and II can affect both compensation and petition scrutiny.
Get your degree equivalency documented early
Program Manager roles often require a bachelor's in engineering, construction management, or a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before your offer stage so it does not delay the H-1B petition timeline.
Confirm OPT or CPT authorization covers your start date
If you're on F-1 status, verify your OPT authorization dates cover your proposed start date at Michael Baker International. A gap between your authorization period and your first day creates an unauthorized employment issue USCIS will flag during any subsequent petition.

Find Program Manager at Michael Baker International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Michael Baker International sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Michael Baker International sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. Because the company works heavily on federal and state infrastructure contracts, Program Manager positions typically meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires. Your offer letter and job duties description will need to clearly reflect a degree requirement in a specific technical field, which the company's HR and legal teams typically prepare as part of the petition package.
Which visa types does Michael Baker International commonly use for Program Manager roles?
H-1B is the most common visa type for Program Manager hires at Michael Baker International. The company also sponsors Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM labor certification for longer-term employees. Candidates on F-1 OPT or CPT can often start before an H-1B petition is filed, and TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role qualifies under USMCA professional categories.
What qualifications and experience does Michael Baker International expect for Program Manager roles?
Most Program Manager openings require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, transportation planning, or a closely related field. PMP certification is frequently listed as preferred or required. Candidates are expected to have hands-on experience managing multi-discipline project teams, coordinating with public agency clients, and delivering work within defined scope, schedule, and budget constraints on infrastructure or government consulting projects.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Michael Baker International?
You can browse open Program Manager positions at Michael Baker International on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship availability so you're not wasting time on roles that won't support your status. When you apply, tailor your resume to highlight federal or state agency project experience, your degree field, and any active certifications like PMP. Be upfront about your visa type during the recruiter screening call.
How do I plan my timeline around Michael Baker International's H-1B sponsorship process?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer needs to file before your OPT expires to maintain your work authorization. Starting conversations with Michael Baker International's recruiting team at least four to six months before the registration window opens gives both sides time to complete credential reviews, draft the LCA, and prepare the petition.
