Align your credentials with PE licensure expectations
BKF Engineers values engineers progressing toward Professional Engineer licensure. Before applying, confirm your foreign degree is evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator so it maps cleanly to a U.S. bachelor's equivalent in civil or structural engineering.
Target roles matching your PERM labor category
BKF primarily sponsors through EB-2 and EB-3, both of which require a PERM labor certification tied to a specific job description. Apply for roles where your education and experience align tightly with the posted duties, since DOL scrutinizes any mismatch during the PERM audit process.
Raise sponsorship early in final-round interviews
Engineering firms in consulting often have a longer internal approval process for sponsorship decisions. Bring it up before the offer stage so BKF's HR team can loop in counsel early, rather than discovering complications after you've negotiated compensation.
Understand the EB-3 timeline for your situation
If your priority date puts you in a backlogged country, EB-3 approval can take years. Ask BKF during negotiations whether they maintain H-1B status concurrently while your Green Card processes, since consulting firms vary significantly on this practice.
Use Migrate Mate to filter BKF Engineers openings by role
Engineering positions at BKF span multiple service lines and locations. Use Migrate Mate to surface the specific openings where sponsorship is most relevant to your background, so you're applying to roles with the strongest fit rather than casting wide.
Document project experience in U.S. engineering formats
BKF works on infrastructure and land development projects subject to California and other state standards. Structure your resume around deliverables, software proficiencies like AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit, and project types that map directly to their service lines before submitting.

Find Engineering at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity centers on employment-based Green Card pathways, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, rather than H-1B transfers or new H-1B cap filings. If you're already in the U.S. on a valid H-1B with another employer, a transfer to BKF is a separate conversation worth raising directly with their recruiting team during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers sponsors through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories. EB-2 applies to engineers with advanced degrees or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers roles filled by professionals with a relevant bachelor's degree. Both pathways require PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications and experience does BKF Engineers expect for Engineering roles?
BKF typically hires civil, structural, and land development engineers with degrees in relevant engineering disciplines. Progress toward Professional Engineer licensure is a meaningful differentiator. Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or MicroStation, combined with project experience in infrastructure, site development, or transportation, strengthens your application considerably across most of their service lines.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can browse open Engineering positions at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where visa sponsorship is part of the conversation. From there, apply directly and be prepared to provide a resume formatted around U.S. project deliverables, your degree documentation, and any credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the United States.
How do I plan realistically for the Green Card timeline at BKF Engineers?
PERM labor certification alone can take six to eighteen months with the Department of Labor before your I-140 petition even reaches USCIS. If your birth country has a backlogged priority date, total Green Card processing can extend well beyond that. Clarify with BKF whether they'll maintain or support nonimmigrant status while your case is pending, since that significantly affects your planning.
