Align your credentials to consulting project types
Olsson's engineering work is project-driven and client-facing, so tailor your resume to show deliverable-based experience, not just technical skills. Highlighting infrastructure, site development, or environmental projects signals fit with consulting firm expectations.
Confirm your degree supports specialty occupation status
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to the engineering role offered. A general science degree may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard, so gather transcript documentation that maps your coursework to the specific discipline Olsson is hiring for.
Target open roles that match your visa category
Olsson sponsors across multiple visa types including H-1B, F-1 OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1. Browse Engineering openings filtered by sponsorship type on Migrate Mate to find roles where your current or intended visa status is already an accepted pathway.
Flag TN eligibility early if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Engineering is a TN-eligible occupation under USMCA. TN status has no annual cap and no lottery, which makes it a faster path than H-1B for qualifying citizens. Raise your nationality during recruiter conversations so the hiring team routes your application correctly from the start.
Prepare your OPT timeline before the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM OPT extension eligibility and remaining authorized period before finalizing an offer. Olsson will need enough runway on your OPT to complete onboarding and, if applicable, initiate an H-1B filing before your status expires.
Understand the LCA requirement before your start date
For H-1B and H-1B1 visa sponsorship, your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the USCIS petition. This step requires Olsson to certify the prevailing wage for your specific role and location, so any salary negotiation should account for that floor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Olsson sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Olsson does sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Because H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing matters, especially for candidates transitioning off OPT or another status. If you're already in H-1B status with a prior employer, a cap-exempt transfer is possible without re-entering the lottery, which simplifies the process.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Olsson?
Search Olsson's Engineering openings directly through their careers page or through a visa-focused job board. When applying, be upfront about your visa status in the application or initial recruiter screen. Olsson's engineering teams are distributed across multiple U.S. offices, so geographic flexibility can strengthen your candidacy across a broader range of open positions.
Which visa types does Olsson commonly sponsor for Engineering positions?
Olsson has sponsored Engineering candidates on H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas. For recent graduates, CPT and OPT provide early-career entry points. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines without a lottery. H-1B remains the primary long-term work authorization path for most international engineers.
What qualifications does Olsson expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
Olsson's Engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline, such as civil, environmental, structural, or electrical engineering. Many positions expect professional licensure or active pursuit of a PE license. Project-based experience aligned to consulting work, including client deliverables and multi-discipline coordination, strengthens your application significantly in this sector.
How do I find Olsson Engineering jobs that match my visa type?
Searching by visa category across a large engineering firm's listings can be time-consuming without the right tools. Migrate Mate lets you filter Engineering openings at companies like Olsson by the specific visa types they sponsor, so you can confirm sponsorship fit before applying rather than discovering a mismatch late in the process.
