- The ability to prioritize work effectively, manage deadlines and organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
- Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
- Proficiency with PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, or MicroStation.

Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Arup values Engineers-in-Training and licensed Professional Engineers. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get it evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before applying. It strengthens your case and speeds up any PERM labor certification if the role requires it.
Target Arup offices in visa-friendly project hubs
Arup's U.S. offices in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles handle a high volume of complex infrastructure and consulting work. Roles tied to active project pipelines in these offices are more likely to result in sponsored positions than smaller regional outposts.
Search Arup's Engineering openings on Migrate Mate
Arup posts Engineering roles across multiple platforms, but Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers. Use it to surface Arup openings that are confirmed sponsorship opportunities so you're not guessing which postings are viable.
Understand how Arup structures H-1B filings
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your employer files in time to maintain continuous work authorization. USCIS requires the petition to be filed before your OPT expires, so coordinate with Arup's HR team early.
Frame your specialty occupation case clearly
USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims for broad engineering titles. Your offer letter and job duties should reference specific engineering disciplines and degree requirements. Generalist titles like 'project engineer' need clear scoping to pass the H-1B adjudication standard.
Ask about EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship during the offer stage
Arup has sponsored Green Cards for Engineering staff. Raise the question of long-term immigration support during final-round negotiations, not after you've signed. Knowing whether PERM sponsorship is on the table helps you evaluate the offer against your visa timeline.

Find Engineering at Arup JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Arup sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Arup sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Engineering roles. Sponsorship is typically tied to roles requiring a specific engineering degree and discipline, which satisfies the specialty occupation requirement USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions. If you're in the final stages of OPT, confirm Arup's internal HR timelines align with the April cap filing window.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Arup?
Apply directly through Arup's careers portal and tailor your application to the specific engineering discipline and project type listed in the role. Arup's hiring process typically includes technical interviews and portfolio or project discussions. Migrate Mate is a practical starting point to identify which current Arup Engineering openings are open to visa sponsorship before you apply.
Which visa types does Arup commonly use for Engineering roles?
Arup sponsors both H-1B and employment-based Green Cards, including EB-2 and EB-3 categories, for Engineering staff. The H-1B is the primary nonimmigrant pathway for new hires. Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification is more common for longer-tenured employees, though some candidates negotiate it during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Arup expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most sponsored Engineering roles at Arup require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific engineering discipline such as civil, structural, mechanical, or environmental engineering. Relevant consulting or project delivery experience carries significant weight. For H-1B purposes, your degree field must align directly with the job duties, so generalist backgrounds can face more scrutiny during USCIS adjudication.
How do I think about the immigration timeline when targeting Arup?
If you're on OPT, the critical window is between January and April, when Arup's HR team would need to initiate your H-1B filing. USCIS opens cap registration in March, and petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. Building a relationship with a recruiter or hiring manager before January gives you enough runway to get through interviews and have an offer in place in time.
