Target engineering and technical roles first
Olsson's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines. Focus your search on civil, structural, electrical, and environmental engineering roles, where the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B eligibility is clearest and approval risk is lowest.
Highlight field-relevant degree alignment
Consulting firms like Olsson need to demonstrate a direct match between your degree and the offered role. Lead with your specific engineering or technical discipline in applications, vague degree descriptions slow down the sponsorship process and raise USCIS scrutiny.
Engage early if you're on OPT
Olsson sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, which means they're open to candidates in their early U.S. career stages. Approach them before your OPT clock becomes a pressure point, recruiters prefer buffer time to coordinate LCA filing and petition timelines.
Understand Olsson's project-based hiring cycle
Engineering consultancies hire in response to project pipelines, not fixed calendars. Monitor Olsson's openings consistently throughout the year rather than assuming a seasonal window, roles can open when client contracts are awarded.
Demonstrate long-term commitment to the firm's markets
Olsson operates primarily in infrastructure and community-focused projects. Showing familiarity with their service areas and client types signals you're invested in the work, not just using the role as a visa vehicle, a concern sponsors take seriously.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship opportunities

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Olsson sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Olsson sponsors H-1B visas. Their sponsorship activity is focused on technical and engineering professionals in roles that meet the specialty occupation standard. If you hold a degree in a relevant engineering or technical field and have a qualifying job offer from Olsson, H-1B sponsorship is a realistic path. Sponsorship volume is modest, so competition for sponsored roles is real.
Which visa types does Olsson sponsor?
Olsson sponsors H-1B visas along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles, and J-1 visas. This range makes them accessible to candidates at multiple stages, from students completing practical training to experienced professionals seeking long-term work authorization.
Which roles and departments at Olsson are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Olsson is most common in engineering disciplines, civil, structural, environmental, and transportation engineering roles align well with H-1B specialty occupation criteria. Technical consulting positions with clear degree requirements are the strongest candidates. General administrative or non-technical roles are unlikely to support a sponsorship case given the eligibility standards involved.
How do I find currently open visa-sponsored jobs at Olsson?
Job postings at consulting firms rarely specify visa sponsorship upfront. Migrate Mate tracks verified sponsorship history by employer, so you can browse Olsson's open roles knowing their sponsorship track record in advance. This saves time you'd otherwise spend applying to postings that never result in a sponsorship conversation.
How do I approach the application process at Olsson as a visa-dependent candidate?
Be transparent about your visa status early, Olsson's recruitment process is structured, and ambiguity creates delays. Apply to roles directly aligned with your degree and technical background, since that alignment is what makes sponsorship viable. If you're on OPT, apply with enough runway remaining for the employer to complete LCA filing and petition preparation before your authorization lapses.
