Frame your credentials around engineering project delivery
Olsson's Project Manager roles sit inside engineering and consulting teams, so your resume should lead with technical project delivery, not general management. Highlight experience coordinating multi-discipline engineering projects, managing subcontractors, or working within regulated design environments.
Confirm your degree meets specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a qualifying bachelor's degree in a directly related field for H-1B sponsorship. For a Project Manager role at an engineering consultancy like Olsson, degrees in civil, structural, or systems engineering are the clearest fit. A business degree alone may face scrutiny.
Target Olsson's geographic hiring clusters strategically
Olsson operates across multiple regional offices, and Project Manager openings concentrate in states where they hold active infrastructure and municipal contracts. Search by specific office location rather than applying broadly, which signals genuine interest in a defined practice area.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Olsson's open Project Manager roles
Olsson posts Project Manager positions across multiple job boards, but not all listings surface visa-relevant details. Use Migrate Mate to browse their current openings filtered for sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to roles where the pathway is already confirmed.
Raise sponsorship early but frame it around timing
In consulting firms like Olsson, hiring managers care about project continuity. When sponsorship comes up, anchor it to your current work authorization runway rather than making it an abstract ask. Explaining you have 12 to 18 months of OPT remaining shifts the conversation to a manageable transition.
Understand how Olsson's H-1B filing window affects your start date
USCIS H-1B cap filings open in March with an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window and need cap-subject sponsorship, work with Olsson's HR team early to align your projected start date with the filing cycle and avoid a gap in work authorization.

Does Olsson sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Olsson sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. As an engineering and consulting firm, Olsson routinely works through employer-sponsored visa processes for qualified candidates in technical positions. If you're applying for a Project Manager role, confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter early in the process, as it can vary by office location and project staffing needs.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Manager roles at Olsson?
Olsson supports several visa categories for Project Manager hires, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1. F-1 OPT is a common entry point for recent graduates in engineering or related fields. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. H-1B sponsorship is the long-term path for candidates who need employer-sponsored status beyond OPT.
What qualifications does Olsson expect for sponsored Project Manager positions?
Olsson's Project Manager roles in consulting typically require a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or a related engineering discipline, along with demonstrated experience managing technical project scopes, budgets, and client deliverables. A PMP certification or EIT status can strengthen your profile. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the role under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Olsson?
You can browse and apply for Olsson's open Project Manager positions through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your application to the specific engineering discipline and office location of the role. After submitting, follow up with the recruiter and address sponsorship requirements directly in the early screening conversation to avoid delays later in the process.
How do I time my application if I'm transitioning off OPT or F-1 status?
If your OPT is expiring, timing your Olsson application around the H-1B cap filing window matters significantly. USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March each year for an October 1 start. Securing an offer by February gives Olsson enough runway to file your petition. If you have STEM OPT, you may have up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which provides more flexibility to align with the filing cycle.
