Frame your credentials around LCA prevailing wage tiers
BKF Engineers files Labor Condition Applications with DOL before sponsoring permanent residence. Research prevailing wage levels for Business Development Manager roles in California to position your experience and salary expectations within a sponsorable range before you apply.
Target BKF's active regional office footprint
BKF Engineers operates across multiple California markets including the Bay Area, Sacramento, and Southern California. Identifying which offices are actively hiring Business Development Managers lets you tailor outreach to hiring managers overseeing client development in those specific geographies.
Highlight client-facing wins in infrastructure sectors
BKF's Business Development function is client-relationship-driven within civil engineering and land development consulting. Quantify pipeline growth, key account wins, or municipal client relationships you've managed. This directly maps to what their hiring teams evaluate when assessing BD candidates.
Understand how PERM shapes the sponsorship timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship both require PERM labor certification through DOL, which typically adds 12 to 18 months before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition. Build this into your offer negotiation so you and the employer align on realistic permanent residence timelines from day one.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open BD roles by sponsorship
Business Development Manager openings at BKF Engineers are distributed across multiple job boards, making it hard to isolate sponsorship-eligible postings. Use Migrate Mate to filter BKF's active listings specifically for roles where the company has a sponsorship history for this function.
Prepare your immigration status narrative before the offer stage
Consulting firms evaluate BD hires on revenue impact, not immigration complexity. Arrive at offer conversations with a concise explanation of your current status, authorized work period, and the earliest date you'd need employer-sponsored filing to begin. This removes uncertainty for the hiring team.

Find Business Development Manager at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Business Development Manager roles sits primarily in the employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B. If you're currently on H-1B status through another employer, you'd be looking at a transfer with BKF as the new petitioning employer, which is possible but depends on the role meeting H-1B specialty occupation criteria for a BD function at an engineering firm.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at BKF Engineers?
Applications go through BKF Engineers' careers portal or through job boards where they post actively. To find openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility, Migrate Mate aggregates BKF's Business Development Manager listings alongside the company's sponsorship history for that role, which helps you prioritize which postings are worth pursuing as a foreign national.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Manager roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored Business Development Managers through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories. EB-2 generally applies when the role requires an advanced degree or demonstrates exceptional ability. EB-3 covers professionals with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Both require PERM labor certification through DOL before the immigrant petition is filed with USCIS.
What qualifications does BKF Engineers expect for a Business Development Manager?
BKF typically looks for candidates with a background in civil engineering, urban planning, or a related technical discipline combined with demonstrated client development experience in consulting or professional services. Familiarity with public agency procurement, land development markets, or municipal infrastructure clients strengthens your candidacy considerably given the firm's core practice areas.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers offers to sponsor my Green Card?
Once BKF agrees to sponsor, PERM recruitment typically takes three to six months before the application is filed with DOL. DOL processing adds several additional months, followed by USCIS adjudication of the I-140 petition. If your priority date becomes current immediately, you could reach adjustment of status in roughly two to three years from the start of the PERM process, though this varies by country of birth.
