Frame Your Credentials Around BCG's Client Work
BCG evaluates Business Development Managers on their ability to open doors with C-suite clients and expand existing accounts. Tailor your resume to show measurable revenue impact and relationship-building in professional services, not just general sales metrics.
Target BCG's Industry-Aligned Practice Areas
BCG organizes business development hiring around specific practice areas like Technology, Healthcare, and Financial Institutions. Applying to a role aligned with your sector expertise significantly strengthens your candidacy and helps recruiters match you to the right sponsoring team.
Search Sponsored Business Development Roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Business Development Manager positions at BCG by visa type. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship isn't available for your specific status, whether F-1 OPT, H-1B, or E-3.
Understand How BCG Handles LCA Filings
BCG files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition can be submitted. If you're changing employers, confirm your start date allows enough time for LCA certification, which typically takes seven business days under standard processing.
Negotiate Offer Timing Around the H-1B Cap
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, BCG must register you in the March lottery for an October 1 start. Structure your offer conversation early enough in Q1 to give BCG's immigration team sufficient lead time before the registration window closes.
Clarify Your OPT or Grace Period Runway Before Accepting
F-1 OPT holders have a 60-day grace period after employment ends. If you're between roles, confirm with BCG's HR team exactly when your start date needs to fall so your work authorization remains valid through onboarding and any pre-employment checks via E-Verify.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Consulting Group sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, BCG sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Managers. BCG has consistently filed H-1B petitions across its consulting and business development functions, and the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements involved. If you need a cap-subject H-1B, timing your offer around BCG's March lottery registration window is critical.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Boston Consulting Group?
Applications go through BCG's careers portal at bcg.com/careers. Roles are organized by practice area and region, so filtering by your sector expertise improves match quality. You can also browse open Business Development Manager positions at BCG filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify roles where your specific sponsorship situation is supported before you apply.
Which visa types does BCG commonly use for Business Development Manager roles?
BCG sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for this role. Australian citizens can use the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and a faster turnaround than the H-1B. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations may be eligible for TN visa status. F-1 OPT is commonly used for recent graduates while an H-1B petition is pending.
What qualifications does BCG expect for a Business Development Manager role?
BCG generally looks for a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field, with an MBA preferred for senior-level positions. Practical experience in professional services or management consulting business development carries significant weight. Strong command of pipeline management, executive relationship development, and proposal strategy are consistently emphasized across BCG's job postings for this function.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from BCG?
Timeline depends on your visa type. E-3 and TN visas can often be processed in a matter of weeks through consular processing. H-1B sponsorship for cap-subject candidates requires a March lottery registration and an October 1 start date at the earliest. USCIS premium processing, where available, reduces adjudication to 15 business days once the petition is filed.
