Frame your background as client-ready
BCG's Solutions Consultants are expected to work directly with senior clients from day one. Tailor your resume and portfolio to show consulting project experience, not just technical output. Case study exposure and structured problem-solving matter as much as domain knowledge here.
Target BCG's industry practice areas strategically
BCG hires Solutions Consultants into specific practice areas like Digital, Technology Advantage, and Operations. Identify which practice aligns with your background before applying, as each has different hiring cycles and slightly different specialty occupation justifications for visa petitions.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
BCG sponsors multiple visa types for this role. Before you receive an offer, understand whether your situation fits H-1B, E-3, TN, or H-1B1, as each has different processing timelines and employer filing requirements. Misalignment discovered late can delay or complicate your start date.
Verify your OPT authorization aligns with the role
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS requires that your authorized work directly relates to your degree field. A Solutions Consultant role must demonstrably connect to your major. Confirm this match with your Designated School Official before accepting an offer to avoid authorization issues later.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Solutions Consultant roles
BCG's Solutions Consultant openings span multiple offices and practice areas simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter live postings specifically verified for visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're only spending time on positions where BCG has confirmed it will support your work authorization.
Prepare documentation that supports specialty occupation status
For H-1B filings, USCIS scrutinizes whether a role truly requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher. For a Solutions Consultant position, gather evidence linking your degree field directly to the role's responsibilities, including the job description, your transcripts, and any relevant professional certifications.

Find Solutions Consultant at Boston Consulting Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Consulting Group sponsor H-1B visas for Solutions Consultants?
Yes, Boston Consulting Group sponsors H-1B visas for Solutions Consultant roles. BCG is a well-established H-1B sponsor within the consulting and professional services industry. Because H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your application and coordinating with BCG's immigration team early in the hiring process is critical to securing authorization before your intended start date.
Which visa types does Boston Consulting Group commonly sponsor for Solutions Consultant roles?
BCG sponsors several visa categories for Solutions Consultants, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing U.S. degrees. The right category depends on your nationality, your current status, and the specific role and office location you're hired into.
How do I apply for Solutions Consultant jobs at Boston Consulting Group?
You can apply directly through BCG's careers portal or discover verified sponsorship-eligible openings through Migrate Mate. BCG's Solutions Consultant hiring often runs through both campus recruiting and experienced-hire pipelines. Identifying which practice area aligns with your background before applying improves your chances, as BCG evaluates candidates against specific team needs rather than a single generalist pool.
What qualifications does Boston Consulting Group expect for Solutions Consultant roles?
BCG typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, information systems, or business, combined with client-facing or project delivery experience. Solutions Consultants are expected to bridge technical and strategic thinking. Consulting experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with enterprise technology or digital transformation projects strengthen your profile considerably.
How do I plan my timeline if BCG is sponsoring my H-1B for a Solutions Consultant role?
H-1B petitions can only be filed on April 1 each year for an October 1 start, and selection is subject to a lottery. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and whether you qualify for a 24-month STEM extension, which gives you additional runway. Coordinate with BCG's HR and immigration team as early as possible after receiving an offer to align your start date with USCIS processing windows.
