Frame your credentials around infrastructure consulting
Michael Baker International focuses on infrastructure, transportation, and government contracts. Tailor your resume to show client-facing business development experience in consulting, engineering services, or public sector markets, not generic sales roles.
Verify your degree qualifies as a specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility for Business Development Managers in consulting hinges on demonstrating a direct connection between your degree and the role. A business administration, marketing, or engineering degree paired with consulting experience gives you the strongest case with USCIS.
Target roles aligned with active contract pipelines
Business development hiring at firms like Michael Baker International often follows contract wins or proposal cycles. Roles tied to transportation, federal, or municipal infrastructure projects are where sponsorship conversations are most likely to happen.
Browse open Business Development Manager roles on Migrate Mate
Michael Baker International posts Business Development Manager positions across multiple regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter current openings and identify which locations and practice areas are actively hiring international candidates.
Raise sponsorship early in the offer conversation
Consulting firms with established HR and legal teams typically handle visa paperwork internally. Ask directly whether the role is eligible for sponsorship before the offer stage to avoid late-process surprises and give the employer time to prepare LCA filings with DOL.
Plan your H-1B timeline around the April cap lottery
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March and the lottery runs in April. Align your offer acceptance and start date negotiations with this cycle so your employer can submit the I-129 petition by April 1 for an October 1 start.
