Tips for Finding Development Manager Jobs at BKF Engineers
Frame your licensure for U.S. consulting
BKF Engineers values project leadership tied to professional engineering credentials. Research whether your home-country qualifications align with PE licensure pathways in California or other states where BKF operates, and document that alignment before applying.
Target BKF's active project geographies
BKF concentrates hiring around its California and Pacific Northwest offices. Identifying which regional office has active Development Manager openings lets you tailor your outreach and signals genuine familiarity with the firm's market focus.
Search open roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Development Manager openings at BKF Engineers by visa sponsorship type. That narrows your search to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, so you're not guessing when you apply.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 before negotiating
BKF has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for this role. EB-2 requires a position justified at an advanced degree level. Ask the recruiter which classification they intend to use, since it affects your PERM timeline and priority date.
Prepare your experience documentation for PERM
PERM labor certification requires the DOL to verify your qualifications match the role's requirements. Gather employment letters, project records, and degree transcripts early. Gaps in documentation are the most common reason PERM audits slow the process.
Address nonimmigrant intent proactively with your employer
Engineering consulting firms often start Green Card sponsorship after an extended period in a nonimmigrant status. Confirm with BKF's HR team whether they bridge status through H-1B before initiating PERM, so you understand your authorization timeline going in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Development Managers is centered on employment-based Green Cards, specifically EB-2 and EB-3 classifications, rather than H-1B visa nonimmigrant visas. That said, many consulting firms use H-1B status as a bridge while PERM labor certification is pending. Confirm directly with BKF's recruiting team which nonimmigrant status they support before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at BKF Engineers?
Applications go through BKF Engineers' careers portal on their company website. You can also find sponsored Development Manager openings at BKF Engineers listed on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Tailor your resume to reflect project oversight experience relevant to civil or infrastructure consulting.
Which visa types are commonly used for Development Manager roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored employment-based immigrant visas for Development Managers, with EB-2 and EB-3 being the relevant classifications. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. EB-3 covers positions requiring a bachelor's degree and professional experience. Both pathways require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does BKF Engineers expect for Development Manager positions?
BKF Engineers typically looks for candidates with a civil engineering background and demonstrated experience managing complex infrastructure or land development projects. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering is the baseline, and professional engineering licensure strengthens your candidacy considerably. Client-facing project management experience and familiarity with California or Pacific Northwest permitting processes are practical differentiators at this seniority level.
How do I understand the Green Card timeline for a Development Manager role at BKF Engineers?
The Green Card process for employment-based categories involves three main stages: PERM labor certification with the DOL, an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and adjustment of status or consular processing. Total timelines range from two to five years depending on your country of birth and the visa category. Starting this process as early as possible after joining BKF matters if your priority date will be subject to backlog.
