Align your portfolio with Qualcomm's platform roadmap
Qualcomm hires Development Managers to own delivery across specific product lines like Snapdragon or modem platforms. Tailor your resume to show you've managed cross-functional teams shipping hardware-dependent software, not just general product cycles.
Verify your visa type before applying
Qualcomm sponsors several visa categories, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Know which category fits your status before your recruiter screen so you can answer sponsorship questions directly rather than flagging uncertainty mid-process.
Target roles in media-adjacent technology divisions
Qualcomm's work in Media and Entertainment spans codec development, streaming platforms, and display technologies. Development Manager openings tied to these product areas tend to have clearer sponsorship precedent given the established hiring pattern in those business units.
Request the LCA filing timeline during offer negotiation
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Ask your Qualcomm recruiter when LCA filing is expected relative to your start date so your timeline stays realistic.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Development Manager roles
Sponsorship-eligible Development Manager positions at Qualcomm don't always surface on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Qualcomm roles that are open to visa sponsorship and match your visa category.
Prepare your degree and experience documentation early
Qualcomm's H-1B petitions require evidence that the Development Manager role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather transcripts, degree certificates, and a clear record of technical management experience before your offer letter arrives to avoid delays at filing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Qualcomm sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, Qualcomm sponsors H-1B visas for Development Manager roles. The company has an established immigration infrastructure and works with legal counsel to file H-1B petitions for qualified candidates. Because the H-1B requires a lottery selection each April for most applicants, timing your offer relative to the annual registration window in March matters significantly for planning your start date.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Qualcomm?
Applications go through Qualcomm's careers site, where roles are listed by product line and business unit. You can also find sponsorship-eligible Development Manager openings through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to international candidates. During the application, expect a technical screen, a cross-functional leadership interview, and a panel reviewing your delivery track record across hardware or platform engineering teams.
Which visa types does Qualcomm commonly use for Development Manager roles?
Qualcomm sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for this function. H-1B is the most common path for candidates transitioning from student status or changing employers. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying specialty occupations. Your recruiter will confirm which categories apply to your situation during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Qualcomm expect for a Development Manager role?
Qualcomm typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, combined with experience leading engineering teams delivering complex software or hardware products. For H-1B eligibility, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, so your background in technical management needs to align directly with the specific product domain the team owns.
How do I plan my timeline if I'm relying on H-1B sponsorship at Qualcomm?
H-1B cap-subject petitions follow a fixed annual cycle: USCIS opens registration in March, conducts the lottery, and selected petitions can be filed from April 1 with an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, coordinate your OPT expiration date with your recruiter so a Cap Gap extension covers you if needed. Starting the conversation about sponsorship at offer stage, not after signing, keeps the DOL LCA filing on schedule.
