Target engineering and R&D roles first
Qualcomm's sponsorship activity is concentrated in highly technical positions, semiconductor design, wireless systems, and software engineering. Applying to roles in these areas gives you the strongest chance of landing a sponsored position at the company.
Understand Qualcomm's H-1B track record before applying
Qualcomm is an active H-1B sponsor with a consistent filing history. Knowing this going in lets you approach the application with confidence rather than uncertainty about whether sponsorship is genuinely on the table for your role.
OPT and CPT candidates have a real pathway here
Qualcomm sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, making it a strong target for international students finishing U.S. degrees. Internships and new grad programs often serve as the entry point for longer-term sponsored employment after graduation.
TN visa holders from Canada and Mexico should apply directly
Qualcomm sponsors TN visas, which means Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying occupations can pursue roles without H-1B lottery risk. This is a significant advantage worth highlighting early in conversations with Qualcomm recruiters.
Search for Qualcomm openings on a platform that filters by sponsorship
Not every job posting makes sponsorship eligibility clear. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Qualcomm roles where international candidates are genuinely welcome to apply.
Prepare for a multi-stage technical interview process
Qualcomm's hiring in semiconductor and wireless engineering is rigorous. Expect system design, coding, and domain-specific technical rounds. Arriving prepared for depth, not just breadth, significantly improves your odds of clearing the process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Qualcomm sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Qualcomm sponsors H-1B visas and is one of the most active H-1B sponsors in the semiconductor and wireless technology industry. The company files petitions across engineering, research, and technical roles on a consistent basis, making it a reliable option for international professionals who need H-1B sponsorship to work in the U.S.
Which visa types does Qualcomm sponsor?
Qualcomm sponsors a broad range of visa types, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT. It also supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. This range makes Qualcomm accessible to international candidates at multiple career stages, from students finishing U.S. degrees to experienced professionals pursuing permanent residence.
Which departments or roles at Qualcomm are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Qualcomm is most concentrated in highly technical roles, particularly semiconductor design, VLSI engineering, wireless systems, RF engineering, and software development. Research and applied science positions also see strong sponsorship activity. Roles in general business functions tend to see less sponsorship activity compared to core engineering and R&D departments.
How do I find open jobs at Qualcomm that sponsor visas?
The most reliable approach is to search on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsoring employers and lets you filter specifically for companies with a proven sponsorship history like Qualcomm. This removes the guesswork of figuring out whether a given posting is open to international candidates, so you can focus your energy on applying rather than researching.
How do I know if Qualcomm will sponsor a Green Card for me?
Qualcomm does sponsor Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, though sponsorship for permanent residence is typically initiated after you've joined the company and demonstrated strong performance. It's not something offered upfront in most cases. During the interview process, it's reasonable to ask HR about the company's general policy on Green Card sponsorship for your specific role and level.
