Frame Your Credentials Around Client Delivery
Consulting firms evaluate Development Managers on measurable project outcomes, not just technical skills. Before applying, document specific engagements where you led cross-functional teams, managed client relationships, or improved delivery timelines. That framing directly matches how Westwood evaluates this role.
Target Postings That Reference Portfolio Oversight
Westwood's Development Manager openings in consulting tend to emphasize program governance and account growth. Filter your search for roles that mention client portfolio or professional services delivery. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Development Manager openings at Westwood with sponsorship confirmed.
Clarify TN Eligibility Before the Offer Stage
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, a TN visa can move faster than H-1B and avoids the lottery entirely. Confirm with the recruiter early that your role classification aligns with a TN-eligible occupation, since development management roles can qualify under engineering or management consulting depending on scope.
Understand the LCA Process Your Employer Initiates
Before USCIS receives your H-1B petition, Westwood must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing rate for your location. Delays here push back your start date, so ask your recruiter where the LCA stands in the process once you receive an offer.
Align Your Resume to Specialty Occupation Standards
H-1B approval for Development Manager roles depends on demonstrating that the position requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. Ensure your resume and any supporting documentation tie your degree directly to the technical or project management demands described in the job posting.
Ask About EB-2 or EB-3 Sponsorship During Negotiation
Consulting firms that sponsor H-1Bs often support PERM-based Green Card filings for long-term hires. Raise this in the offer conversation, not after you start. Ask specifically whether Westwood initiates PERM for the Development Manager level and what their typical timeline from hire to filing looks like.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Development Manager roles. The company operates in consulting and professional services, where project leadership positions regularly meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements. If you receive an offer, Westwood would file the H-1B petition on your behalf, including the required Labor Condition Application through the DOL.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
Browse verified Development Manager openings at Westwood Professional Services through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles with confirmed visa sponsorship so you are not guessing about employer eligibility. Once you identify a relevant posting, apply directly and indicate your visa sponsorship needs clearly in the process. Tailoring your application to Westwood's consulting delivery model improves your chances of advancing to an interview.
Which visa types does Westwood Professional Services commonly use for Development Manager roles?
Westwood sponsors H-1B visas for most international Development Manager hires, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates currently enrolled or recently graduated. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican citizens whose role scope qualifies. For longer-term immigration, the company also supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways, typically initiated through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications and experience does Westwood Professional Services expect for a Development Manager?
Westwood typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or project management, along with demonstrated experience leading client-facing engagements in a professional services environment. Proficiency in project delivery frameworks and cross-functional team oversight is consistently valued. For H-1B purposes, your degree must align with the specific duties of the role, not just management broadly.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship timeline for a Development Manager role at Westwood Professional Services?
Timing depends on your visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October start, so if you receive an offer outside that window you may need to consider cap-exempt alternatives or bridge options like OPT extension. TN and L-1 visa transfers can move faster. Once an offer is confirmed, Westwood initiates the DOL Labor Condition Application, which must be certified before USCIS can receive your petition.
