Build a portfolio around civil infrastructure projects
BKF Engineers focuses on roadway design, traffic engineering, and site civil work for both public and private clients. Documenting your experience with transportation planning, geometric design, or traffic impact studies makes your application directly relevant to their project pipeline.
Target offices aligned with active project regions
BKF operates across California and the Mountain West, where transportation infrastructure demand is high. Applying to offices in regions with active public agency contracts improves your chances of landing a role with a clear business need that supports the sponsorship case.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 pathway early
BKF has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineers. If your degree and experience qualify for EB-2, confirm that with the recruiter upfront. EB-2 can reduce your PERM labor certification timeline compared to EB-3 for candidates from lower-backlog countries.
Understand how PERM labor certification affects your start date
Green Card sponsorship through BKF begins with PERM, a DOL process that requires the employer to test the labor market before filing. This typically takes six to twelve months before USCIS even receives your petition, so negotiate your offer with that lead time in mind.
Get your PE licensure or EIT status documented before applying
Transportation engineering roles at consulting firms like BKF frequently require or strongly prefer a Professional Engineer license or Engineer-in-Training certification. Having your credentials verified and ready to present speeds up the offer stage and strengthens the employer's sponsorship justification to USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Transportation Engineer roles at BKF
Searching for sponsorship-verified openings at consulting firms can be slow through general job boards. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers, so you can identify active Transportation Engineer postings at BKF Engineers without sorting through companies that don't sponsor.

Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Transportation Engineers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Transportation Engineers is focused on permanent residency pathways rather than H-1B. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer to BKF is possible, but you should confirm directly with their recruiting team whether they initiate new H-1B petitions for this role.
Which visa types are commonly used for Transportation Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored Green Cards through both the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based preference categories for Transportation Engineers. EB-2 applies to roles requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Both pathways begin with PERM labor certification filed with the DOL.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Transportation Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or transportation engineering, experience with roadway design, traffic analysis, or transportation planning, and familiarity with tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D or Synchro. An EIT certification or active Professional Engineer license is often expected at the mid to senior level.
How do I apply for Transportation Engineer jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can find and apply for Transportation Engineer openings at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at verified sponsoring employers. Once you identify a relevant posting, apply directly and be prepared to discuss your visa status during early screening. Having your credentials and project experience clearly documented speeds up the process.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers offers Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship through BKF begins with PERM labor certification, which the employer files with the DOL. That process alone typically takes six to twelve months. After PERM approval, USCIS reviews your I-140 immigrant petition before you can adjust status or apply for an immigrant visa. The full timeline from offer to Green Card commonly runs two to four years depending on your country of birth and preference category.
