Align your credentials to U.S. project delivery standards
WSP's construction teams work on federally funded infrastructure and transportation projects, so hiring managers look for familiarity with U.S. contract structures like Design-Build and CMGC. Translate your experience into those terms before you apply.
Target WSP offices near major infrastructure corridors
WSP staffs construction roles heavily in regions with active DOT and transit programs. Searching by office location rather than just job title surfaces openings tied to active project pipelines, where hiring timelines are more predictable and sponsorship decisions move faster.
Get your professional credentials verified before interviews
WSP construction roles frequently require PE licensure or active pursuit of it. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a foreign credential evaluation completed in advance so you can address equivalency questions confidently during the hiring process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter construction openings by visa type
Not every WSP construction posting lists sponsorship eligibility upfront. Migrate Mate lets you filter WSP's open construction roles by the visa types they've historically sponsored, so you're applying to positions where your visa situation is already a known fit.
Clarify your status timeline before the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, your work authorization window affects when WSP needs to file an H-1B petition on your behalf. Raise your status expiration date during final-round conversations so the offer timeline can account for USCIS filing deadlines and cap registration windows.
Understand how PERM labor certification affects your green card path
WSP sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 green cards for construction professionals, but PERM requires DOL to certify no qualified U.S. worker was available. Construction roles with narrow specialty requirements, like geotechnical or bridge engineering, tend to move through PERM more smoothly than general superintendent positions.

Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Construction positions. WSP has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions across its engineering and construction functions. If you're applying from F-1 OPT status or from abroad, the H-1B is the most common pathway WSP uses to convert construction hires into long-term sponsored employees.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at WSP?
Applications go through WSP's careers portal, where construction roles are listed by discipline and region. Before applying, review whether each posting aligns with your visa type and timeline. Migrate Mate aggregates WSP's construction openings and filters them by visa sponsorship history, which makes it easier to identify the right roles before submitting an application.
Which visa types does WSP commonly sponsor for Construction positions?
WSP sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for construction roles, and also supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship for longer-term hires. E-3 is available to Australian citizens only. TN covers Canadian and Mexican nationals in specific professional categories. The right visa depends on your nationality, education, and the specific construction role you're hired into.
What qualifications does WSP expect for sponsored Construction roles?
Most sponsored construction roles at WSP require a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering, or a closely related field. Many positions also expect active PE licensure or demonstrated progress toward it. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a degree in a specific field is a standard requirement for entry into that position.
How do I time my application given H-1B cap deadlines?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT expiring before October, WSP may be able to use a cap-exempt filing if it qualifies, or bridge your status using OPT STEM extension if you're eligible. Starting conversations with WSP recruiters at least four to six months before your status expires gives enough lead time to align the offer with USCIS filing windows.
