Align your credentials to WSP's project scope
WSP's Software Engineering Manager roles sit inside consulting delivery teams, so your resume should show experience managing engineers on complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Highlight infrastructure-adjacent software work, GIS platforms, asset management systems, or environmental data pipelines carry more weight than generic product development.
Target WSP's sector-specific business units
WSP organizes hiring by sector: transportation, environment, energy, and built environment. Applying through the correct business unit signals role fit and gets your application to the right hiring manager, which matters more than a blanket submission through the careers portal.
Clarify cap-exempt filing eligibility early
If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, WSP can file a cap-exempt petition and you can start without waiting for October 1. Raise this in the offer stage so HR doesn't default to a lottery registration timeline that adds months of delay.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation upfront
Consulting firms like WSP often require formal credential evaluations for foreign degrees when petitioning USCIS. If your engineering degree is from outside the U.S., get a NACES-member evaluation completed before your offer letter arrives to avoid holding up the I-129 filing.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Software Engineering Manager roles
WSP posts Software Engineering Manager openings across dozens of U.S. offices at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter these listings by visa type so you're only applying to positions where your specific sponsorship category is explicitly supported.

Find Software Engineering Manager at WSP JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineering Managers?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineering Manager roles. As a large professional services firm with operations across the U.S., WSP has an established immigration program that handles H-1B petitions. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, WSP can file a transfer petition, which is cap-exempt and typically faster than a new cap-subject registration.
How do I apply for Software Engineering Manager jobs at WSP?
Apply directly through WSP's careers portal, but filter by business unit and location before submitting. WSP's Software Engineering Manager roles are distributed across sector-specific groups like transportation, environment, and energy. You can also browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship category on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify positions that match your specific work authorization situation before you apply.
Which visa types does WSP commonly sponsor for Software Engineering Manager roles?
WSP sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Software Engineering Manager positions. E-3 is available to Australian citizens and follows a simpler process than H-1B with no lottery. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. For longer-term sponsorship, WSP also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for this role level.
What qualifications does WSP expect for a Software Engineering Manager position?
WSP typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, combined with several years of experience leading engineering teams. Because WSP operates in infrastructure and environmental consulting, experience with project-based delivery environments, enterprise systems integration, or geospatial software development strengthens an application considerably over pure product-company backgrounds.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at WSP for this role?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN sponsorship can move quickly, sometimes within a few weeks of offer acceptance, since neither requires a lottery or PERM labor certification. H-1B transfers for existing visa holders are also relatively fast. New H-1B cap registrations require winning the annual USCIS lottery in March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1, so planning 12 months ahead is realistic for that path.
