Align Your Credentials to WSP's Project Scope
WSP hires Mechanical Project Engineers across building systems, HVAC, and infrastructure. Tailor your resume to show project delivery experience in those areas, since generalist applications get filtered fast in consulting environments with defined service lines.
Confirm LCA Postings Before Your Interview
WSP is required to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting an H-1B petition. Searching public LCA disclosure data by job title and office location helps you verify which offices have recently sponsored Mechanical Project Engineer roles.
Target Offices With Active Infrastructure Pipelines
WSP's sponsorship activity for engineering roles clusters around offices tied to large public infrastructure contracts. Prioritizing applications to those locations improves your odds of landing on a team with both open headcount and established visa filing processes.
Prepare PE Licensure or a Clear Path Toward It
Consulting firms including WSP frequently require or strongly prefer Professional Engineer licensure for project engineer roles. If you're not yet licensed, documenting your EIT status and exam timeline signals readiness and removes a common hiring hesitation for sponsored candidates.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Roles Efficiently
Searching broadly across job boards wastes time on postings that won't sponsor. Migrate Mate filters Mechanical Project Engineer openings at WSP by visa type, so you can apply directly to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than asking after the fact.

Find Mechanical Project Engineer at WSP JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Project Engineers?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Project Engineers. The firm has a consistent track record of filing petitions for engineering roles across its consulting business units. Your employer of record within WSP handles the petition, so confirm during the offer stage which entity will file and whether your start date accounts for USCIS processing time.
Which visa types does WSP commonly use for Mechanical Project Engineer roles?
WSP supports several pathways for Mechanical Project Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 (for Australian citizens), TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 PERM for longer-term candidates. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and how far along you are in your career.
How do I apply for Mechanical Project Engineer jobs at WSP?
You can apply directly through WSP's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters WSP's open Mechanical Project Engineer roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify the right opening before applying. Either way, tailor your application to the specific service line, such as buildings or infrastructure, rather than submitting a generic resume across all open positions.
What qualifications does WSP expect for a Mechanical Project Engineer?
WSP typically looks for a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B and E-3 purposes. Relevant project delivery experience in HVAC, plumbing, or building systems is expected. Progress toward or attainment of Professional Engineer licensure is frequently listed as a requirement or strong preference, particularly for mid-level roles.
How do I manage timing if I need sponsorship before my OPT expires?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the 60-day grace period after employment ends is not work-authorized, so lining up an offer before your OPT expires is critical. STEM OPT extensions give up to 24 additional months if your employer is E-Verify certified, which WSP is. Factor in that H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so if you miss the lottery, TN or E-3 may be faster alternatives depending on your nationality.
