INTRODUCTION
We are the GPU Communications Libraries and Networking team at NVIDIA. We deliver communication libraries like NCCL, NVSHMEM, UCX for Deep Learning and HPC. DL and HPC applications have a huge compute demand already and run on scales which go up to tens of thousands of GPUs. The GPUs are connected with high-speed interconnects (eg. NVLink, PCIe) within a node and with high-speed networking (eg. Infiniband, Ethernet) across the nodes.
Communication performance between the GPUs has a direct impact on the end-to-end application performance; and the stakes are even higher at huge scales! We are looking for a technical leader to manage our NVSHMEM and UCX libraries. This is an outstanding opportunity to push the limits on the state-of-the-art and deliver platforms the world has never seen before. Are you ready to contribute to the development of innovative technologies and help realize NVIDIA's vision?
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will be doing:
- Lead, mentor, and grow your library engineering team and be responsible for the planning and execution of projects as well as the quality, and performance of your libraries.
- This is a technical leadership role so you will participate in feature design and implementation.
- Interact with internal and external partners and researchers to understand their use cases and requirements. Collaborate with engineering teams, program and product management, and partners to define the product roadmap.
- Continuously review and identify improvement opportunities in established processes, infrastructure, and practices to ensure the teams are executing in the most efficient and transparent manner.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we need to see:
- 10+ overall years of experience in the software industry with specialization in HPC networking or system software.
- 4+ years of management experience.
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in CS, CE, EE (related technical field) or equivalent experience.
- Prior systems software or communication runtime or high performance networking software development experience with a successful track record of taking several complex software features or products through the full product life cycle.
- Strong understanding of computer system architecture, operating systems principles (aka systems software fundamentals), HW-SW interactions and performance analysis/optimizations.
- Excellent C/C++ programming and debugging skills in Linux.
- Experience balancing multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Flexibility to work and communicate effectively across different teams and timezones.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience with parallel programming models (MPI, SHMEM) and at least one communication runtime (MPI, NCCL, NVSHMEM, OpenSHMEM, UCX, UCC). Experience with programming using CUDA, MPI, OpenMP, OpenACC, pthreads.
- Background with RDMA, high-performance networking technologies (InfiniBand, RoCE, Ethernet, EFA), network architecture and network topologies. Knowledge of HPC and ML/DL fundamentals.
- Experience with Deep Learning Frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.

Frame your technical depth strategically
NVIDIA's hiring panel for Software Engineering Manager roles looks for hands-on GPU, CUDA, or AI infrastructure experience, not just people management. Position your credentials around systems-level expertise so your specialty occupation case for H-1B or E-3 is unambiguous.
Target teams shipping developer-facing products
NVIDIA's CUDA, TensorRT, and Triton teams regularly open Software Engineering Manager roles and have established sponsorship pipelines. Applying to teams with active developer platform mandates improves your odds of landing a role where sponsorship is already expected.
Clarify sponsorship scope in early recruiter conversations
NVIDIA sponsors both initial H-1B petitions and PERM-based Green Card filings for managers. Ask the recruiter directly whether the role is approved for both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa sponsorship before advancing to technical interviews.
Align your offer timeline with H-1B cap deadlines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Targeting an offer by late February gives NVIDIA's immigration team enough runway to register you and file premium processing if selected.
Prepare a leadership evidence portfolio before filing
For EB-2 or EB-3 PERM sponsorship, NVIDIA's legal team will need documented proof of your direct reports, scope of technical decisions, and cross-functional influence. Compile org charts, project scopes, and performance records well before the PERM audit stage.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles efficiently
NVIDIA posts Software Engineering Manager openings across multiple locations and product lines, and roles close fast. Use Migrate Mate to filter NVIDIA's active openings by visa type so you're applying to positions confirmed for sponsorship, not guessing from a generic job board.

Find Software Engineering Manager at NVIDIA JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does NVIDIA sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineering Managers?
Yes, NVIDIA sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineering Manager roles. These positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. NVIDIA works with experienced immigration counsel to handle LCA filing with the DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS, including premium processing where timelines require it.
How do I apply for Software Engineering Manager jobs at NVIDIA?
Apply directly through NVIDIA's careers portal, targeting teams where your technical background aligns, such as AI infrastructure, developer tools, or GPU computing. Tailor your resume to reflect both engineering depth and people leadership. You can also browse NVIDIA's open Software Engineering Manager roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate before submitting your application.
Which visa types does NVIDIA commonly sponsor for Software Engineering Managers?
NVIDIA sponsors H-1B visas for most international candidates and E-3 visas for Australian citizens in Software Engineering Manager roles. For longer-term residency, NVIDIA also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process. The visa type pursued depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage at the time of sponsorship.
What qualifications does NVIDIA expect for a Software Engineering Manager role?
NVIDIA typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, plus substantial hands-on software engineering experience before the management transition. For H-1B and E-3 purposes, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, so your degree and the job's requirements need to align directly. Prior experience with GPU computing, AI frameworks, or large distributed systems is a recurring signal across NVIDIA's manager job descriptions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for NVIDIA Software Engineering Manager roles?
For H-1B, USCIS standard processing runs three to five months after the October 1 cap year opens. Premium processing reduces adjudication to 15 business days once the petition is filed. For E-3, consular processing in Australia typically takes two to six weeks from LCA approval. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs longer, often 18 months or more, depending on audit risk and the applicable priority date.
