Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Construction Engineer Jobs at CBRE Jobs
Align your credentials with CBRE's project portfolio
CBRE's Construction Engineer roles skew toward commercial fit-outs, data center builds, and large-scale capital projects. Frame your resume around project delivery experience in those sectors, not just general site management. A degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering supports the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires.
Target CBRE's Project Management business line
CBRE posts Construction Engineer openings across multiple divisions, but its Project Management segment runs the highest volume of engineering roles. Filter your applications to that division specifically. Roles tied to client-funded projects often have clearer sponsorship pathways because headcount is budgeted at project inception.
Get your academic credentials evaluated before applying
If you completed your engineering degree outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before CBRE's HR team reviews your application. An unevaluated foreign degree can stall the LCA filing with DOL even after an offer is extended.
Ask about cap-exempt filing options during interviews
CBRE sometimes places Construction Engineers at hospital systems, universities, or government-adjacent facilities that qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers. If your assignment would be at such a site, you may be eligible for an H-1B outside the annual lottery. Raise this with the recruiter before assuming you need to wait for the April cap season.
Start your PERM documentation immediately after receiving an offer
If CBRE extends an offer with an EB-2 or EB-3 green card pathway, the PERM labor certification process through DOL begins before USCIS ever sees your petition. Construction Engineer is a defined occupation under DOL's O*NET system, so the prevailing wage determination and recruitment steps follow a predictable sequence. Delays almost always come from slow document gathering on the employee side.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active CBRE openings by visa type
Roles that explicitly support H-1B or OPT candidates are not always labeled that way on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Construction Engineer openings at CBRE by the visa types you need, so you're only spending time on positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.

Find Construction Engineer at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Engineers?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Construction Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering. CBRE participates in the annual H-1B cap process and in some cases can file outside the cap if the engineer is assigned to a qualifying cap-exempt client site.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Construction Engineer roles?
CBRE sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Construction Engineers as the most common work authorization path. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for recent graduates entering through internship or early-career programs. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose engineering credentials and role scope meet NAFTA/USMCA requirements. For long-term hires, CBRE also supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card petitions through the PERM labor certification process.
How do I apply for Construction Engineer jobs at CBRE?
Applications go through CBRE's careers portal, where you can filter by job family and location. Tailor your application to highlight project delivery experience in commercial or industrial construction, since those match CBRE's core client base. If you need visa sponsorship, you can browse active CBRE Construction Engineer openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate before applying, so you confirm sponsorship support upfront.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for Construction Engineer positions?
CBRE typically requires a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or construction engineering for these roles. Project site experience, familiarity with construction management software, and the ability to coordinate with general contractors and subcontractors are standard expectations. For more senior openings, CBRE looks for experience managing multi-million dollar capital projects from design through closeout. A PE license is valued but not universally required.
How do I plan my timeline if CBRE offers H-1B sponsorship?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year, with an October 1 start date for approved petitions. If you receive an offer but miss the current cap cycle, CBRE may be able to extend your OPT, file a cap-gap extension, or explore a TN or H-1B1 as an interim path depending on your nationality. Build at least six months of runway into your job search to avoid a gap between your current authorization and a new H-1B approval.
