Align your credentials to USCIS specialty occupation standards
Project Lead positions at CBRE typically require a degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture. Make sure your transcripts and any foreign credential evaluations clearly map your coursework to the technical requirements of the role before you apply.
Target CBRE's Global Workplace Solutions division first
CBRE's GWS division handles large-scale facilities and construction programs for corporate clients and sponsors project management professionals regularly. Roles here often involve multi-site delivery, which strengthens the specialty occupation argument for H-1B purposes compared to smaller project scopes.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Project Lead roles
Not every CBRE job posting signals sponsorship availability upfront. Use Migrate Mate to surface Project Lead openings at CBRE that are verified for visa sponsorship, so you're only investing time in applications where sponsorship is actually on the table.
Ask about LCA filing timelines before accepting an offer
CBRE must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. If you're on OPT with a hard expiration date, confirm the LCA can be certified and the petition filed with enough lead time to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Document field experience with project-specific evidence
CBRE's construction and real estate projects often involve regulated scopes like LEED compliance, government-contracted builds, or complex tenant buildouts. Compile project portfolios, budget ownership records, and contractor management examples that directly reflect the work CBRE Project Leads handle day-to-day.
Clarify PERM implications if you want a Green Card path
CBRE sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for some roles, but PERM recruitment requirements mean the process is tied to a specific job description. Confirm early in the offer stage whether the Project Lead role as defined qualifies for labor certification and how CBRE structures that process internally.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as construction management, civil engineering, or architecture. CBRE has supported international professionals across multiple visa categories for project delivery functions, so sponsorship for this role is an established part of their hiring process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Lead roles at CBRE?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Project Lead roles at CBRE, covering most nationalities. Australian citizens may qualify for the H-1B1 visa, and Canadian or Mexican nationals can use the TN visa if the role fits a qualifying USMCA profession. CBRE also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students earlier in their careers, and Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is available for longer-term hires.
What qualifications and experience does CBRE expect for Project Lead roles?
CBRE Project Lead positions generally require a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related technical discipline, combined with hands-on experience managing construction or facilities projects end-to-end. Proficiency with project scheduling tools, budget oversight, and contractor coordination is expected. For senior Project Lead roles, experience managing multi-site programs or large capital projects in commercial real estate or corporate environments carries significant weight.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at CBRE?
You can browse and apply for Project Lead roles at CBRE directly through their careers portal. For a faster way to find roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, Migrate Mate filters CBRE's open Project Lead positions specifically for international candidates. Tailor your application to reflect the type of project delivery CBRE handles in your target division, whether that's tenant improvement, facilities management, or large-scale construction programs.
How do I manage the H-1B timeline if I'm currently on OPT?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap-subject filing window opens April 1 for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1, you'll need a STEM OPT extension in place to bridge the gap. Confirm that CBRE is registered with E-Verify, which is required for STEM OPT authorization, and align your offer timing so the petition can be filed before the April 1 deadline.
