Align Your Credentials with CBRE's Trade Requirements
CBRE's Maintenance roles often require state-issued trade licenses or certifications like EPA 608 for HVAC or OSHA safety credentials. Verify yours are valid in the state where the role is posted before applying, as unlicensed candidates rarely advance.
Target Facilities Management Openings Not General Maintenance
CBRE posts Maintenance roles under facilities management, engineering services, and building operations. Searching those specific categories surfaces roles with more defined scopes, which tend to have clearer specialty occupation arguments for H-1B or H-1B1 filings.
Browse Open Roles on Migrate Mate Before Applying Directly
CBRE's Maintenance openings are spread across property types and markets. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles where CBRE has an active sponsorship history, so you focus your applications on positions where immigration support is already part of the hiring process.
Ask About LCA Filing Before Accepting an Offer
CBRE must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Confirm your recruiter has initiated this step before you give notice at your current employer, since LCA processing adds time to your start date.
Use OPT or CPT to Demonstrate On-Site Competency First
CBRE regularly converts F-1 OPT hires in technical roles. If you're on OPT, prioritize placements at CBRE facilities where you can show measurable output. Documented performance during OPT strengthens the case for employer-sponsored H-1B filing before your authorization expires.
Clarify Prevailing Wage Level Early in Negotiations
DOL prevailing wage requirements tie your offered salary to the job's local wage level. For Maintenance roles at CBRE, confirm the wage level the LCA will reflect before finalizing your offer letter, since a mismatch can delay or complicate the petition.

Find Maintenance at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenances?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Maintenance roles. The key threshold is whether the position meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field as a normal requirement for the role. Facilities engineering and technical systems roles at CBRE tend to meet this standard more reliably than general upkeep positions.
How do I apply for Maintenance jobs at CBRE?
Start at CBRE's careers portal and search under facilities management or engineering services rather than a generic maintenance category. Filter by location and property type to find roles that match your technical background. Migrate Mate is a useful starting point to identify which CBRE Maintenance openings have a sponsorship history before you invest time in a full application.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Maintenance roles?
CBRE sponsors across several categories for Maintenance hires. H-1B and H-1B1 are used for specialty occupation roles like facilities engineers and building systems technicians. F-1 OPT and CPT support students in relevant technical programs. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are available for longer-term hires in technical positions.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for sponsored Maintenance positions?
CBRE looks for candidates with formal training in building systems, HVAC, electrical, or mechanical trades, typically backed by a technical degree or recognized trade certification. Roles supporting commercial or institutional properties often require specific licensure like EPA 608 or state electrician credentials. Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and working within a computerized maintenance management system strengthens your profile significantly.
How do I time my application given visa processing timelines?
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, USCIS's cap-subject filing window opens in April each year, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. That means your offer and LCA need to be in place before March. If you're on OPT, factor in your remaining authorization window and apply to CBRE roles at least three to four months before your status expires to allow time for petition preparation.
