Frame your credentials for U.S. licensing standards
Universities assess construction hires against U.S. licensure benchmarks. Have your foreign engineering credentials evaluated by a NACES-member body before applying so Kennesaw State's hiring committee can immediately confirm your qualifications meet state and federal standards.
Target facilities and capital projects postings specifically
Kennesaw State's Construction Engineer roles sit within Facilities Management and Capital Projects, not academic departments. Search those divisions directly on the university's careers portal to find roles where visa sponsorship is most consistently extended to qualified candidates.
Understand how university H-1B timelines differ from private sector
As a cap-exempt employer, Kennesaw State University can file H-1B petitions with USCIS year-round, outside the April lottery window. That means you can start and accept an offer at any point, rather than waiting for the annual cap season.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Construction Engineer openings
University job boards bury roles across multiple portals and update inconsistently. Search Migrate Mate to find verified Construction Engineer openings at Kennesaw State filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Clarify OPT and CPT authorization timelines with the hiring team early
If you're on F-1 OPT or CPT, confirm that your authorization end date gives Kennesaw State enough runway to onboard you. Universities run longer hiring cycles than private firms, so an offer accepted late in your OPT period can create a gap before H-1B filing.
Prepare for a PERM-backed Green Card path through the university
Universities with active capital programs often support EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship for long-term construction staff. Ask the HR team early whether Kennesaw State initiates DOL PERM labor certification for construction roles, since this shapes your long-term residency timeline significantly.

Find Construction Engineer at Kennesaw State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Engineers?
Yes. Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for Construction Engineer roles and, as a public university, qualifies as a cap-exempt institution. This means it can file H-1B petitions with USCIS at any time of year, bypassing the annual lottery. You're not limited to applying only in early spring, which gives you more flexibility when timing your job search and offer acceptance.
How do I apply for Construction Engineer jobs at Kennesaw State University?
Applications go through Kennesaw State University's official careers portal, where Facilities Management and Capital Projects roles are posted. Upload a resume tailored to campus infrastructure, licensed construction project management, and any large-scale renovation experience. You can also browse active openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified Construction Engineer postings and lets you confirm sponsorship availability before investing time in an application.
Which visa types does Kennesaw State University commonly use for Construction Engineers?
The most common pathways are H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications, and F-1 OPT or CPT for recent graduates completing authorized practical training. For candidates seeking a longer-term path, the university has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through DOL PERM labor certification for construction staff in ongoing capital programs.
What qualifications does Kennesaw State University expect for Construction Engineer roles?
Kennesaw State typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, construction, or architectural engineering, often with a preference for licensure such as a Professional Engineer (PE) certification or progress toward it. Relevant project management credentials and direct experience with institutional or higher-education facility projects strengthen an application. Familiarity with university procurement rules, ADA compliance, and multi-phase campus construction programs is a practical differentiator for this environment.
How long does the hiring and visa sponsorship process take at Kennesaw State University?
University hiring cycles for construction roles run longer than private-sector timelines, often eight to fourteen weeks from posting to offer. H-1B processing after an offer depends on whether you need a new petition or a transfer, and USCIS standard processing currently runs three to five months. Premium processing reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days. Build that full timeline into your planning, especially if your current work authorization has a fixed end date.
