Align your credentials to KSU's accreditation standards
KSU is regionally accredited, so foreign degrees often need a credential evaluation before HR will process your application. Get a NACES-member evaluation completed before you apply, not after you receive an offer.
Target departments with recurring faculty vacancies
KSU's College of Computing and Software Engineering and its Coles College of Business post teaching roles year-round. Focusing your search on departments with high instructional demand puts you in front of hiring managers who have sponsored international faculty before.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the interview stage
Ask the hiring department directly whether they support H-1B transfer, new H-1B filing, or PERM-based permanent residence. Public universities like KSU often cover filing fees, but that isn't guaranteed across all colleges and ranks.
Use Migrate Mate to filter KSU teaching roles by visa type
Sorting open positions by sponsorship category saves time and surfaces roles where H-1B or J-1 support has been used before. Migrate Mate lets you browse KSU's current teaching openings filtered specifically by visa eligibility.
Factor PERM timelines into tenure-track negotiations
DOL PERM adjudication currently runs 12 to 18 months before an I-140 can be filed. If you're on an H-1B and targeting a tenure-track role, ask KSU's HR whether they initiate PERM within the first year of employment.
Confirm OPT and CPT eligibility with your DSO before applying
F-1 students targeting KSU teaching assistantships or part-time instructor roles need Curricular Practical Training authorization from their Designated School Official. Standard OPT doesn't cover on-campus instructional work at a separate institution.

Find Teaching at Kennesaw State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas for Teaching roles?
Yes, Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying teaching positions, particularly tenure-track and full-time faculty roles that require a specific academic background. As a public university, KSU is a cap-exempt H-1B employer, meaning petitions can be filed at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery.
Which visa types are commonly used for Teaching roles at Kennesaw State University?
H-1B is the most common path for full-time faculty, but J-1 exchange visitor visas are also used for visiting scholars and short-term teaching appointments. TN classification is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic roles. F-1 OPT and CPT can apply to graduate teaching assistantships depending on program structure and DSO authorization.
What qualifications are expected for Teaching positions at Kennesaw State University?
Most full-time teaching roles at KSU require at minimum a master's degree in a relevant field, with a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) expected for tenure-track positions. Foreign credentials generally need a NACES-member evaluation. Teaching experience at the university level and evidence of scholarly activity strengthen applications significantly, particularly in competitive departments.
How do I apply for Teaching jobs at Kennesaw State University?
Applications go through KSU's official careers portal, where positions are posted by college and department. You'll typically submit a cover letter, CV, teaching philosophy statement, and references. Migrate Mate is a practical starting point to browse KSU's open teaching roles filtered by visa sponsorship type before heading to the official application portal.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a KSU teaching role?
Because KSU is cap-exempt, there's no October 1 start date requirement, and petitions can be filed year-round with USCIS. Standard processing runs three to five months, and premium processing can reduce that to 15 business days. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a concurrent or transfer petition can be filed as soon as you receive an offer.
