Align your credentials to U.S. academic standards
Foreign degrees are evaluated differently by U.S. universities. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before applying so KSU's hiring committees can immediately confirm your qualifications meet the required degree level for the faculty rank.
Target departments with active faculty searches
KSU posts faculty openings by college and department. Focus applications on departments advertising tenure-track or visiting Professor lines, since these postings are the ones most likely to have institutional sponsorship already built into the hiring plan.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Universities often sponsor H-1B visas for faculty but handle timing differently. Ask the hiring department whether sponsorship is initiated before or after the start date, and confirm whether they cover filing fees or pass USCIS costs to you.
Prepare for the PERM process early in your employment
If your goal is permanent residence through an EB-2 or EB-3, PERM labor certification requires DOL-supervised recruitment. KSU must advertise the role publicly before filing, so starting that conversation with HR in your first year gives you the most flexibility.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Professor roles at KSU
Faculty job boards often bury sponsorship details in posting fine print. Migrate Mate filters Professor openings at KSU by visa type, so you can identify which roles are actively open to sponsored candidates before investing time in an application.

Find Professor at Kennesaw State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas for Professors?
Yes. Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Professor roles, particularly tenure-track and full-time faculty positions. The university's Office of Legal Affairs or International Affairs typically manages the filing process. H-1B sponsorship for faculty usually requires a confirmed offer letter and verification that the role meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which an academic position generally satisfies.
How do I apply for Professor jobs at Kennesaw State University?
Applications for Professor positions at KSU are submitted through the university's official careers portal. Most faculty postings require a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, and research statement. Shortlisted candidates typically go through a multi-round process that includes a campus visit or virtual interview. You can browse currently open Professor roles that include visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate before applying directly.
Which visa types does Kennesaw State University use for Professor roles?
KSU sponsors several visa categories for faculty. H-1B is the most common for full-time Professor positions. J-1 is frequently used for visiting faculty, researchers, and exchange scholars. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic roles. For permanent positions, the university may also support EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process after a period of employment.
What qualifications are expected for Professor roles at Kennesaw State University?
Most Professor openings at KSU require a terminal degree in the relevant field, typically a Ph.D. or equivalent. Teaching experience at the university level and an active research or publication record are standard expectations for tenure-track roles. Visiting or lecturer positions may accept candidates who are ABD or hold a master's degree with professional experience, depending on the department and discipline.
How do I navigate the timeline from job offer to visa approval at KSU?
H-1B cap-subject filings follow a strict USCIS calendar with a registration window in March and an October 1 start date. If KSU hires you outside that cycle, premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication to 15 business days. J-1 sponsorship through the university's designated sponsor can move faster. Build at least three to four months of lead time into any start date negotiation to account for document gathering and processing.
