Tailor your credentials to KSU's discipline requirements
Kennesaw State prioritizes candidates whose terminal degree aligns directly with the department posting. Before applying, confirm your degree field maps to the specific college, since interdisciplinary hires often require supplemental documentation to establish specialty occupation status.
Target departments with active search committees early
Academic hiring at KSU runs on a fixed cycle, typically posting in fall for spring interviews. Identify open Assistant Professor searches by college before December so your application reaches the committee before shortlists form.
Browse open Assistant Professor roles through Migrate Mate
Filter KSU's current Assistant Professor openings on Migrate Mate to surface roles that match your field and confirm which positions are actively seeking candidates who need visa sponsorship before you invest time in a full application.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer negotiation
Once KSU extends a conditional offer, confirm in writing that the position qualifies for H-1B sponsorship before resigning from any current role. University HR offices initiate the Labor Condition Application with DOL, and timing depends on your start date.
Prepare for a multi-year PERM timeline if pursuing permanence
Many KSU faculty positions can support EB-2 or EB-3 green card petitions through PERM. The DOL audit process for university roles can extend the timeline significantly, so align your H-1B renewal schedule to preserve status while the petition proceeds.

Find Assistant Professor at Kennesaw State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas for Assistant Professors?
Yes, Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for Assistant Professor positions that qualify as specialty occupations, which typically requires a terminal degree in the relevant academic field. KSU's international faculty services office manages the petition process, including filing the Labor Condition Application with DOL and submitting the I-129 to USCIS. Sponsorship is tied to specific approved positions, so confirm eligibility during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Assistant Professor jobs at Kennesaw State University?
Applications for Assistant Professor roles at KSU are submitted through the university's official careers portal, where each department posts position-specific requirements. You'll need a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, and research statement at a minimum. To find current openings that explicitly support visa sponsorship, browse Migrate Mate, which surfaces KSU postings filtered for international candidates who need work authorization.
Which visa types does Kennesaw State University commonly use for Assistant Professor roles?
KSU most commonly sponsors H-1B visas for tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, with J-1 exchange visitor status used for visiting faculty and postdoctoral roles. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic fields. For long-term faculty, KSU supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card petitions through the PERM labor certification process once the candidate is established in the role.
What qualifications are expected for Assistant Professor positions at Kennesaw State University?
Most Assistant Professor postings at KSU require a completed doctoral degree in the relevant discipline, with a strong preference for candidates who have defended before the appointment start date. Teaching experience and an active research agenda are standard expectations. For visa purposes, your degree field must align closely with the position's specialty occupation classification, which USCIS evaluates when reviewing the H-1B petition.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship timeline when joining KSU as an Assistant Professor?
H-1B petitions filed under cap-exempt status for university employers like KSU can be submitted at any time of year, bypassing the April lottery. Still, allow at least three to four months between your offer acceptance and start date for the LCA certification with DOL and USCIS processing. If you need faster approval, ask KSU's HR whether the university covers premium processing fees for faculty appointments.
