Tips for Finding Education Jobs at Kennesaw State University
Align Your Credentials With Georgia Requirements
Faculty and instructional roles at KSU often require credentials evaluated against U.S. standards. Get a foreign degree evaluation from a NACES-approved service before applying so your qualifications read clearly to the hiring committee.
Target Roles Listed Under Academic Affairs
KSU posts education-specific positions through its Academic Affairs and College departments separately from general staff roles. Filtering by college or academic unit surfaces faculty, lecturer, and advisor openings most likely to involve sponsorship consideration.
Browse Open Education Roles on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter KSU's open Education positions by visa type. You can identify which roles align with your sponsorship need before investing time in a full application, saving weeks of guesswork.
Clarify J-1 Versus H-1B Before Accepting an Offer
Universities frequently default to J-1 exchange visitor status for postdoctoral or visiting scholar roles instead of H-1B. If you're subject to the two-year home residency requirement under J-1, confirm early whether KSU will support an H-1B instead.
Understand PERM Timelines for Tenure-Track Positions
Tenure-track faculty hires at public universities like KSU commonly sponsor Green Cards through PERM-based EB-2 or EB-3 categories. DOL PERM processing can take 12 months or more, so raise permanent residency sponsorship during offer negotiation, not after you've started.
Request Premium Processing When Cap-Gap Applies
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT to H-1B at KSU, a delayed USCIS approval can interrupt your work authorization. Ask the university's international office whether they'll file with premium processing to close that gap before your OPT expires.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas for Educations?
Yes, Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Education roles, particularly full-time faculty and professional staff positions that meet the specialty occupation standard. As a public university, KSU is a cap-exempt employer, meaning H-1B petitions can be filed at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery.
How do I apply for Education jobs at Kennesaw State University?
Applications go through KSU's official careers portal at kennesaw.edu. Faculty positions typically require a cover letter, CV, teaching philosophy, and reference contacts. Staff and advising roles generally ask for a resume and professional references. Migrate Mate lists open Education positions at KSU so you can identify sponsorship-eligible roles before starting your application.
Which visa types does Kennesaw State University commonly use for Education roles?
KSU regularly supports H-1B for faculty and full-time professional roles, J-1 for visiting scholars and postdoctoral researchers, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying education positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for student employees in academic support roles. Long-term tenure-track hires may qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM.
What qualifications does Kennesaw State University expect for Education positions?
Faculty roles typically require a terminal degree in the relevant discipline, such as a Ph.D. or Ed.D., along with demonstrated teaching or research experience. Academic advising and student services positions generally require a master's degree and prior experience in higher education settings. Foreign degrees should be evaluated by a NACES-accredited credential evaluation service to confirm U.S. equivalency before applying.
How do I navigate the sponsorship process timeline at Kennesaw State University?
Once you receive an offer, KSU's Office of International Services manages the petition process. For H-1B, allow at least three to six months from offer to approval under standard processing. Because KSU is cap-exempt, filings aren't tied to the October 1 start date, giving more scheduling flexibility. Raise your visa need early in negotiations so the university can initiate the Labor Condition Application with DOL without delay.
