Tailor your academic credentials for U.S. review
If your degree was earned outside the U.S., get it evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluation service before applying. KSU hiring committees need to confirm your qualification meets the instructional role's minimum academic requirements.
Target departments with recurring instructional needs
KSU posts Instructional Assistant openings across a wide range of colleges and programs. Focus your search on departments where your subject area aligns closely, since sponsorship decisions are made at the department level, not centrally.
Browse open Instructional Assistant roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Instructional Assistant positions at KSU that are open to visa sponsorship. It saves time by surfacing roles where sponsorship is a real possibility rather than manually parsing dozens of job postings.
Ask HR specifically about H-1B filing timelines
Once you have an offer, confirm whether KSU will file a standard or premium processing H-1B petition. Universities are cap-exempt employers, so USCIS can receive filings year-round, but processing timelines still affect your start date.
Understand how PERM applies to your long-term path
KSU has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for education staff, which requires a DOL PERM labor certification. If permanent residence is your goal, ask during the offer stage whether the role qualifies and what the typical process looks like at KSU.

Find Instructional Assistant at Kennesaw State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas for Instructional Assistants?
Yes, Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for Instructional Assistant roles. As a public university, KSU qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, meaning petitions can be filed with USCIS at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery. This makes the H-1B a practical option for candidates who have already exhausted or are transitioning off OPT.
How do I apply for Instructional Assistant jobs at Kennesaw State University?
Applications for Instructional Assistant positions at KSU go through the university's official careers portal. You'll typically submit a resume, cover letter, and academic credentials. Roles are posted by individual colleges and departments, so checking regularly for new openings in your subject area is the most effective approach. Migrate Mate also aggregates KSU's open Instructional Assistant listings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility.
Which visa types does Kennesaw State University commonly use for Instructional Assistant roles?
KSU sponsors a range of visa types for Instructional Assistant staff, including H-1B, J-1, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT. The J-1 Exchange Visitor visa is common for academic roles with a research or teaching component. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying education occupations. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific duties of the role.
What qualifications are expected for Instructional Assistant positions at Kennesaw State University?
Most Instructional Assistant roles at KSU require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with many positions preferring or requiring a master's degree depending on the subject area. Prior teaching or tutoring experience in an academic setting strengthens your application. For H-1B eligibility specifically, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which typically means the degree requirement is direct and field-specific.
How do I plan the visa timeline when starting an Instructional Assistant role at KSU?
KSU hires on a semester-based schedule, so your visa filing timeline needs to align with a specific start date. For H-1B, USCIS standard processing takes three to six months, while premium processing typically returns a decision within 15 business days. If you're on OPT, confirm your authorization end date with your DSO and flag any cap-gap or extension needs well before your offer letter is issued.
