Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Clayco's H-1B filings for Construction Engineers require USCIS to approve the role as a specialty occupation. A degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering maps cleanly. A general business or unrelated degree makes the petition harder to support, so frame your credentials precisely.
Target project types Clayco actively staffs
Clayco regularly recruits Construction Engineers for design-build projects in data centers, healthcare, and industrial facilities. Tailoring your resume to reflect experience on similar project types positions you as a direct match for their active pipeline, not a general hire.
Clarify OPT authorization before your first interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility upfront. Clayco uses E-Verify, which is required for STEM OPT employers, so having your authorization paperwork current before the offer stage removes a common bottleneck in the hiring process.
Browse verified Construction Engineer openings on Migrate Mate
Filtering for Construction Engineer roles at companies with a confirmed H-1B sponsorship history saves significant time. Migrate Mate lets you search Clayco's open positions specifically, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Prepare for PERM requirements before the green card stage
If Clayco pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 green card for you, DOL's PERM process requires documenting that no qualified U.S. worker was available for your role. Keep records of your specialized project experience, as this supports the employer's recruitment documentation.

Does Clayco sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Engineers?
Yes, Clayco sponsors H-1B visas for Construction Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering. Clayco has demonstrated consistent sponsorship activity in this function, covering both cap-subject and cap-exempt situations depending on the candidate's current status and project needs.
Which visa types does Clayco commonly use for Construction Engineer roles?
Clayco supports several pathways for Construction Engineers: H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose degree and role meet DOL's engineering criteria, J-1 for exchange program participants, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa categories for candidates pursuing permanent residency through employer sponsorship.
How do I apply for Construction Engineer jobs at Clayco?
You can search and apply for Construction Engineer positions at Clayco directly through Migrate Mate, which surfaces Clayco's open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, highlight experience on design-build or large-scale commercial projects, as Clayco's portfolio skews toward complex, fast-track delivery. Tailor your resume to the specific project type listed in the job description to improve your match rate.
What qualifications does Clayco expect for Construction Engineer candidates?
Clayco typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, construction, or structural engineering from an accredited program. Practical experience with project scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field supervision strengthens your application significantly. Familiarity with design-build delivery models and experience on commercial, industrial, or data center projects aligns well with the types of work Clayco staffs most actively.
How do I plan my timeline if Clayco is sponsoring my H-1B?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, so coordinating your offer timeline with Clayco's HR team well before March is critical. If you're on STEM OPT, your 24-month extension may bridge the gap. USCIS premium processing is available if you need a faster adjudication decision, which Clayco can elect to use at their discretion.
