Align Your Degree to Specialty Occupation Standards
Clayco's Engineering roles typically require a degree in a directly related field like civil, structural, or electrical engineering. USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims heavily in construction, so a clear degree-to-role match in your resume strengthens any H-1B petition.
Target Project-Based Roles Over Corporate Functions
Clayco's core hiring for Engineers sits in project delivery, not overhead functions. Roles tied to active construction programs, particularly large commercial or industrial builds, tend to move faster through headcount approval and are more likely to include sponsorship conversations from the start.
Raise Sponsorship Before the Offer Stage
Construction firms often finalize compensation and start dates quickly once a decision is made. Bring up your visa status during the second interview round so Clayco's HR team can loop in legal counsel before the offer is drafted, avoiding last-minute delays.
Understand How CPT and OPT Bridge to H-1B
If you're on F-1 status, Clayco can hire you on CPT or OPT immediately while preparing an H-1B petition for the next cap season. The H-1B cap opens in March with an October 1 start date, so timing your graduation and OPT activation around that window matters.
Browse Verified Sponsoring Employers on Migrate Mate
Finding construction companies that actively sponsor Engineering roles is time-consuming without the right filter. Use Migrate Mate to identify and apply to employers like Clayco who have a confirmed sponsorship track record, so you're not wasting applications on companies that won't file.
Ask About PERM Timelines If You Want Permanent Residency
Clayco sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Engineering roles, but PERM labor certification through DOL can take well over a year before USCIS even sees your petition. Ask your recruiter whether the role you're targeting has an established pattern of sponsoring permanent residency, not just temporary visas.

Find Engineering at Clayco JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Clayco sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Clayco sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Engineering roles. To be eligible, your position must meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which typically requires a directly related bachelor's degree or higher. Engineering disciplines like civil, structural, and MEP generally satisfy this standard. Your employer initiates the H-1B petition, so confirming sponsorship willingness early in the process is essential.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Clayco?
You can search and apply for Engineering roles directly through Clayco's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with active sponsorship track records so you can prioritize your applications. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect project-specific experience relevant to Clayco's construction and real estate work, and clearly indicate your visa status so recruiters can plan accordingly.
Which visa types does Clayco commonly use for Engineering roles?
Clayco sponsors several visa categories for Engineers, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering fields, F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing U.S. degrees, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for those pursuing a Green Card pathway through employment-based sponsorship.
What qualifications does Clayco expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Clayco typically looks for Engineers with a degree in a directly related discipline and hands-on experience in construction or real estate project delivery. For H-1B purposes, your degree field must align with the specific role under USCIS specialty occupation standards. Roles tied to active project programs often carry higher hiring urgency and are more likely to move forward with sponsorship.
How do timelines work when Clayco sponsors an H-1B for an Engineering role?
Clayco must file the H-1B petition during the annual cap registration window, which opens in March, with an employment start date no earlier than October 1. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, you can work legally during the gap. USCIS standard processing takes three to five months after filing, though premium processing can reduce that to two to three weeks.
