Align Your Credentials to U.S. Construction Standards
Clayco's Project Engineer roles typically expect proficiency with U.S. building codes, scheduling software like Procore or Primavera, and design-build delivery. Translate your international experience into these terms before applying so your resume reads as immediately deployable.
Target Clayco's Regional Office Postings Strategically
Clayco operates project-based offices tied to active construction sites. Applying to postings tied to a specific market, such as Chicago, St. Louis, or Atlanta, increases your chances because hiring managers are filling immediate project needs, not building a general pipeline.
Clarify Your OPT or CPT Timeline Early in Interviews
If you're on F-1 status, bring up your OPT authorization window in the first substantive conversation. Clayco's project timelines run long, so hiring managers need to see that your work authorization covers the project ramp-up period before an H-1B petition can be filed.
Understand How TN Status Works for This Role
Canadian and Mexican engineers qualify for TN status under the engineer category, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm your engineering degree aligns with the DOL's TN engineer definition and discuss this option with Clayco's HR team before the offer stage.
Prepare for the H-1B Lottery Window Well in Advance
H-1B registration opens in March each year. If Clayco extends an offer ahead of that window, work with their immigration counsel to ensure your I-129 petition is filed accurately, since construction specialty occupation documentation requires detailed project-specific job duty descriptions to withstand USCIS review.
Find Clayco's Open Project Engineer Roles on Migrate Mate
Filtering for sponsorship-confirmed construction employers saves significant time. Use Migrate Mate to browse current Project Engineer openings at Clayco and identify roles that match your visa type, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.

Find Project Engineer at Clayco JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Clayco sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Clayco sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineers. The company has a documented track record of filing H-1B petitions for this role across its construction operations. Because Project Engineer is a specialty occupation requiring a relevant engineering degree, the role generally meets USCIS's H-1B eligibility criteria. You'll want to time your application so an offer can be in place before the March H-1B registration window opens.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Clayco?
You can find and apply for Project Engineer roles at Clayco through Migrate Mate, which lists current openings where sponsorship has been confirmed. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect Clayco's design-build delivery model and highlight experience with project controls, subcontractor coordination, and construction scheduling tools. Clayco's project offices hire based on active project needs, so applying to a specific regional posting rather than a general application tends to get faster traction.
What visa types does Clayco sponsor for Project Engineer roles?
Clayco sponsors multiple visa types for Project Engineers, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. The company has also supported Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 labor certification for longer-tenured employees. J-1 exchange visitor status is an option for certain training-track positions. The most common path for full-time hires is H-1B, with TN serving as a strong alternative for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals.
What qualifications does Clayco expect for Project Engineer candidates?
Clayco typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or construction engineering, along with hands-on experience in commercial or industrial construction. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, and CPM scheduling is a practical advantage. For international candidates, your degree must be in a directly related engineering field to support the specialty occupation standard that USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions for this role.
How do I handle visa timing if Clayco extends an offer?
The critical step is confirming your current work authorization status the moment an offer is on the table. If you're on OPT, calculate exactly how much time remains and whether a STEM extension is available. For H-1B candidates, Clayco's immigration counsel typically prepares the I-129 petition for the April filing window, with an October 1 start date. If you need bridge authorization between OPT expiration and H-1B activation, discuss cap-gap coverage with HR immediately.
