Align Your Credentials to Gresham Smith's Sectors
Gresham Smith recruits Project Engineers for healthcare, transportation, and industrial projects. Tailor your resume and portfolio to highlight project delivery experience in those sectors, since a generic engineering CV is less likely to clear their internal screening.
Confirm OPT or CPT Dates Before Applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your authorization end date before submitting applications. Gresham Smith operates on project timelines, and hiring managers need enough runway to onboard you before your work authorization expires or an H-1B cap filing is required.
Target Offices in States with Faster LCA Processing
Gresham Smith has offices across multiple states. The Department of Labor processes Labor Condition Applications within seven business days, but filing in states with fewer competing LCA submissions can reduce administrative friction before your H-1B petition reaches USCIS.
Prepare a Professional Engineering License Timeline
Many Project Engineer roles in construction and infrastructure require or fast-track toward a PE license. Having your EIT certification and FE exam results ready signals to Gresham Smith that you're on the right licensing path, which matters for billable project assignments.
Ask Directly About Sponsorship During the Offer Stage
Once you receive a verbal offer, confirm whether the role is flagged for sponsorship before the written offer is drafted. Gresham Smith's HR process involves legal review of visa eligibility, so clarifying this early prevents delays in your official start date.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsored Openings
Not every Project Engineer posting at Gresham Smith will explicitly mention visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at Gresham Smith that are open to sponsored candidates, so you're applying to positions that are already cleared for your visa type.

Find Project Engineer at Gresham Smith JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Gresham Smith sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Gresham Smith sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. The company operates across construction, infrastructure, and healthcare sectors where specialty occupation engineering positions are well-established. Because Project Engineer roles typically require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, they generally meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Gresham Smith?
You can browse open Project Engineer positions at Gresham Smith through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa-sponsored candidates. Applications go through Gresham Smith's careers portal. Having your resume tailored to their sector focus, particularly infrastructure, healthcare facilities, or transportation, gives your application the best chance of moving forward.
Which visa types does Gresham Smith commonly use for Project Engineers?
Gresham Smith supports several visa categories for engineering hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and F-1 OPT or CPT for recent graduates. For longer-term permanent residence, the company has used employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3, which require PERM labor certification filed through the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does Gresham Smith expect for Project Engineer roles?
Gresham Smith typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering discipline. Practical project delivery experience, familiarity with construction administration, and progress toward an EIT or PE license are valued, particularly for roles tied to infrastructure or healthcare facility projects. Sector-specific experience in Gresham Smith's core markets carries meaningful weight during screening.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap filing cycle?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting a Project Engineer role at Gresham Smith as an F-1 OPT holder, align your job search to secure an offer by February so your employer can register you before the window closes. Missing the registration period means waiting a full year or relying on cap-exempt filing options.
