Frame Your Credentials Around Project Delivery
Gresham Smith evaluates Project Managers against design and construction lifecycle experience. Organize your resume around project phases, budget ownership, and client coordination rather than generic management duties to align with how they screen candidates.
Target Roles Matching Your Visa Timeline
F-1 OPT gives you up to 12 months of work authorization, with a potential 24-month STEM extension. Identify open Project Manager positions at Gresham Smith early enough that your OPT start date aligns with their typical onboarding windows.
Understand Which Visa Fits Your Background
Gresham Smith sponsors multiple visa types for Project Managers, including H-1B, TN, and Green Card pathways like EB-2 and EB-3. TN is faster for Canadian and Mexican nationals with engineering credentials, while H-1B is the standard path for most other nationalities.
Prepare for Specialty Occupation Questions Early
H-1B approval for Project Manager roles in construction and real estate requires demonstrating the position is a specialty occupation requiring a specific bachelor's degree. Gather documentation showing degree-to-role alignment before your offer stage, not after.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Open Roles Efficiently
Project Manager openings at Gresham Smith span multiple practice areas and offices. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa sponsorship type so you can focus your applications on positions that match your current status and timeline.
Confirm LCA Posting Requirements With Your Employer
Once Gresham Smith files your Labor Condition Application with DOL, they must post the LCA at your physical worksite for ten consecutive business days. If your role involves multiple project sites, confirm with HR how they handle multi-location LCA compliance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Gresham Smith sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Gresham Smith sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which typically requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as architecture, civil engineering, or construction management. Your employer handles the petition through USCIS, but you'll need to provide documentation confirming your degree aligns directly with the job duties.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Gresham Smith?
Applications go through Gresham Smith's careers portal, where open Project Manager positions are listed by practice area and office location. You can also browse and filter their visa-sponsoring roles through Migrate Mate, which lets you search specifically for positions open to candidates requiring sponsorship. Tailor your application to highlight project delivery experience relevant to their architecture and engineering work.
Which visa types does Gresham Smith commonly sponsor for Project Manager roles?
Gresham Smith sponsors H-1B visas for most international Project Managers, along with TN visas for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering-related roles. For longer-term pathways, they also support EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, which involves a PERM labor certification filed through DOL. F-1 OPT and CPT are also recognized, making Gresham Smith accessible to recent graduates still on student status.
What qualifications does Gresham Smith expect for Project Manager candidates requiring sponsorship?
Gresham Smith typically looks for a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management, along with demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, and client relationships in design or infrastructure contexts. For H-1B eligibility specifically, your degree field must correspond directly to the role. PMP certification or relevant licensure strengthens your application and supports the specialty occupation classification USCIS reviews.
How do I time my application if I'm on OPT and targeting a Project Manager role at Gresham Smith?
If you're on F-1 OPT, you need to account for the H-1B cap registration window, which opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. Apply to Gresham Smith early enough that an offer can be finalized before registration closes. If you have a STEM-eligible degree, your 24-month OPT extension provides a longer runway if you're not selected in the initial lottery.
