Translate your credentials into U.S. equivalents
Construction management qualifications from outside the U.S. often need credential evaluation before Evans can assess them. Get a NACES-approved evaluation that maps your degree to a U.S. bachelor's in construction management or civil engineering to clear that first hurdle.
Obtain your PMP or CCM certification first
General contractors at Evans's scale expect Project Managers to hold recognized U.S. certifications like the PMP or Certified Construction Manager. Earning one before applying signals you can operate within American project delivery frameworks, which strengthens both your application and any future H-1B specialty occupation argument.
Target Evans roles tied to active project pipelines
Evans posts Project Manager openings when project work is lined up, not speculatively. Use Migrate Mate to filter their live openings and prioritize roles attached to specific project types, since those positions are more likely to move quickly through offer and sponsorship stages.
Align your resume to OSHA and safety compliance experience
Evans operates under strict federal safety standards on construction sites. Highlighting direct experience managing OSHA compliance, safety audits, or subcontractor oversight on your resume makes you a stronger candidate and reduces employer hesitation around sponsoring a less-familiar hire.
Ask about LCA filing timing before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Confirming Evans has started or can start this process promptly helps you plan your start date and avoid gaps if you're transitioning off OPT or another status.
Plan your visa category around your current status
Evans sponsors H-1B, TN, OPT, CPT, and J-1, so your path depends on what you're currently holding. If your OPT authorization is under six months away from expiring, prioritize roles where Evans can initiate H-1B cap-subject filing by April 1 for an October 1 start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Evans General Contractors sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Evans General Contractors sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. The H-1B is the most common long-term sponsorship path for this function, as Project Manager positions in construction typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Your employer files the petition with USCIS after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Evans General Contractors?
You can browse and apply for Project Manager openings at Evans General Contractors through Migrate Mate, which filters jobs specifically by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm the role supports your status before applying. When applying directly, tailor your resume to highlight construction site management experience, relevant certifications like PMP, and any OSHA compliance work, since Evans evaluates candidates against active project requirements.
Which visa types does Evans General Contractors commonly use for Project Manager roles?
Evans General Contractors sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas for Project Manager positions. H-1B is the primary long-term work authorization path. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role qualifies under USMCA. OPT and CPT support candidates currently on F-1 student status, typically during or immediately after completing a U.S. degree program.
What qualifications does Evans General Contractors expect for sponsored Project Manager roles?
Evans typically expects a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, along with direct experience managing subcontractors, budgets, and schedules on commercial or infrastructure projects. Certifications like PMP or CCM strengthen your candidacy. Because USCIS reviews whether the role meets specialty occupation standards for H-1B purposes, having a degree closely matched to the job description matters beyond just employer preference.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Project Manager position at Evans General Contractors?
For H-1B sponsorship, Evans must first obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, which takes seven business days under standard processing. USCIS then takes two to four months for regular H-1B adjudication, or two to three weeks with premium processing. If you're on OPT with an approaching expiration, aligning your application timeline with the April 1 H-1B filing window is critical to avoid a gap in work authorization.
