Align your credentials to NEC requirements
Helix Electric's Project Engineers work directly with National Electrical Code standards. Before applying, review NEC fundamentals and document any project experience involving electrical systems, conduit design, or load calculations to show immediate technical relevance.
Target roles tied to federal projects
Helix Electric frequently works on federally funded construction contracts, which often come with structured onboarding timelines. Roles on those projects tend to have more defined start dates, giving you a clearer window to align H-1B cap filing or OPT extension paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions
Construction firms like Helix Electric post Project Engineer openings across multiple regions simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current openings and identify which locations are actively hiring so you can prioritize applications strategically.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Helix Electric sponsors multiple visa categories, but not every role may be approved for every type. Ask the recruiter directly which visa categories the specific position has been approved to support before accepting an offer or starting any filing timeline.
Account for prevailing wage in your salary expectations
DOL prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B and PERM filings, and construction wage tiers in markets where Helix Electric operates can be higher than you expect. Cross-reference the DOL Foreign Labor Certification Data Center for the relevant wage level before negotiating.

Find Project Engineer at Helix Electric JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Helix Electric sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Helix Electric sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your application to align with the USCIS registration window each spring is essential. If you're already on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, discuss the transition timeline with the recruiter before your offer is finalized.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Helix Electric?
Applications go through Helix Electric's careers portal, where Project Engineer openings are posted by region. Tailor your resume to highlight electrical construction experience, project closeout work, and any familiarity with Helix's core sectors like commercial or industrial builds. Migrate Mate is a practical starting point to track current Project Engineer openings at Helix Electric and filter by location or visa type.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Engineer roles at Helix Electric?
Helix Electric supports several visa categories for this role, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and how far along you are in your career.
What qualifications does Helix Electric typically look for in a Project Engineer?
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a closely related field is generally expected. Hands-on experience with electrical construction documentation, RFI and submittal management, and scheduling software like Procore or Primavera is valued. Familiarity with NEC standards and the ability to coordinate across subcontractors and field crews strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I plan my timeline around visa sponsorship for a Project Engineer offer at Helix Electric?
The timeline varies by visa type. F-1 OPT extensions require filing with USCIS at least 90 days before your current authorization expires. H-1B cap filings follow a fixed annual window, so an offer received outside that window may require bridging on another status. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the process typically takes one to two years or longer from initiation to approval.
