Align your credentials to Clayco's project types
Clayco builds data centers, manufacturing facilities, and mixed-use developments. Tailor your resume to highlight experience with large-scale electrical systems, power distribution, and construction-phase coordination, not just design office work. Project-based portfolios resonate here.
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a directly related bachelor's degree to support an H-1B petition. An Electrical Engineering degree is the clearest path. If your degree is in a related field, gather course transcripts now showing relevant coursework before your employer files.
Target Clayco's integrated delivery model in interviews
Clayco operates as a design-build firm, so Electrical Engineers often coordinate across design, procurement, and construction teams. Demonstrating cross-functional experience positions you as a stronger fit and makes the business necessity argument clearer for any visa petition.
Request clarity on which visa pathway Clayco intends to file
Some construction employers default to H-1B while others pursue TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals or sponsor EB-3 PERM for permanent residence. Ask your recruiter directly which pathway applies to your situation so you can prepare supporting documents accordingly.
Plan your timeline around H-1B cap and OPT gaps
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap registration window opens in March for an October 1 start. A gap between OPT expiry and October 1 can disrupt your employment. Confirm with your employer whether cap-gap protection applies to your situation.
Browse Clayco's open Electrical Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, so you can confirm which Clayco openings are actively seeking candidates who need sponsorship. This saves you from applying to roles where the company won't support your visa category.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Clayco sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Clayco sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria because it requires a directly related bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Your employer will file the I-129 petition after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL. Sponsorship availability can vary by project pipeline and hiring cycle, so confirming with your recruiter at the offer stage is essential.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Clayco?
You can search for open Electrical Engineer positions directly through Clayco's careers page or browse listings filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to Clayco's design-build model, highlighting experience with commercial or industrial electrical systems. Flag your visa status clearly in your application so recruiters can route you to roles where sponsorship is available from the start.
Which visa types does Clayco commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
Clayco sponsors across several categories for Electrical Engineers. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant path for full-time salaried roles. F-1 OPT and CPT can cover early-career or intern positions. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA, which covers engineers without the H-1B lottery. For longer-term sponsorship, Clayco has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Clayco expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Clayco typically expects a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. For most mid-level and senior roles, hands-on experience with power systems, electrical design software, and construction coordination is expected alongside the degree. Familiarity with NEC codes, one-line diagrams, and cross-disciplinary coordination in a design-build environment strengthens your candidacy considerably. Roles tied to specific project types like data centers may also require facility electrical experience.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Electrical Engineers at Clayco?
Timeline depends on visa type. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at the port of entry in a single day. H-1B petitions filed under standard processing take three to six months after USCIS receives the I-129, with premium processing available to reduce that to roughly 15 business days. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a multi-year process. Starting sponsorship conversations at the offer stage, not after signing, prevents delays from compressing your start date.
