Align your credentials to U.S. building codes
DLR Group works across commercial, civic, and healthcare projects governed by NEC and NFPA standards. Framing your experience around these codes in your resume, even if your background is international, signals you can contribute from day one.
Target project types DLR Group actively staffs
DLR Group consistently posts Electrical Engineer openings across sectors like justice facilities, K-12 schools, and healthcare campuses. Tailoring your portfolio to one of these verticals narrows your competition and positions you as a specialist rather than a generalist candidate.
Confirm your visa type is on the employer's radar early
DLR Group sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT candidates. During screening calls, clarify which authorization you need and your timeline. TN is worth raising if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, since it avoids the H-1B lottery entirely.
Time your OPT application to project hiring cycles
DLR Group hires Electrical Engineers throughout the year, but onboarding for project-based roles often aligns with fiscal quarters. File your OPT application with your DSO at least 90 days before your program end date so your EAD arrives before you need to start.
Prepare your LCA documentation before the offer stage
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition. Ask your recruiter early whether DLR Group uses in-house immigration counsel or an outside firm so you know who to coordinate with on required documentation.
Browse verified Electrical Engineer openings on Migrate Mate
Filtering by visa type before you apply saves time at a firm like DLR Group where roles vary by office and project pipeline. Migrate Mate lets you search Electrical Engineer roles specifically filtered by sponsorship type so you only apply where your authorization is a fit.

Find Electrical Engineer at DLR Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DLR Group sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, DLR Group sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The firm operates across construction and building systems design, which consistently falls within H-1B specialty occupation criteria given the degree requirements for the role. If you're subject to the H-1B lottery, discuss your timeline with the recruiter early, since USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at DLR Group?
Applications go through DLR Group's careers portal, where roles are listed by office location and project sector. You can also find and filter their open Electrical Engineer positions on Migrate Mate, which lets you confirm visa sponsorship eligibility before applying. Tailor your application to the specific market sector listed in the posting, such as healthcare, civic, or education, since DLR Group's hiring managers review candidates against project pipelines.
Which visa types does DLR Group commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
DLR Group sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for Electrical Engineers. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while the TN visa is an efficient route for Canadian and Mexican nationals since it bypasses the H-1B lottery. H-1B remains the standard long-term path for engineers seeking multi-year work authorization at the firm.
What qualifications does DLR Group expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
DLR Group typically expects a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B purposes. Familiarity with building systems design, NEC code compliance, and tools like AutoCAD or Revit MEP strengthens your candidacy. Roles at more senior levels often require licensure progress toward a Professional Engineer credential.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining DLR Group as an Electrical Engineer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. F-1 OPT authorization from USCIS takes up to 90 days after your DSO submits the application, so plan accordingly. H-1B petitions filed under standard processing can take three to six months after USCIS receives them, while premium processing reduces that to 15 business days. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at a port of entry on your start date, making it the fastest option if you qualify.
