Our culture is about aspiration, embracing change and challenges, listening to (and learning from) each other, encouraging continual learning, and inspiring collective growth. As an inclusive, integrated architecture and engineering practice, we value the diversity of perspectives, experiences, abilities, and expertise that advance both the work we do, and the world we share.
Position Summary
This role provides strategic direction for electrical system design, interdisciplinary coordination, QAQC leadership, and technical excellence throughout all phases of project delivery. Serving as both a technical expert and Engineer of Record, the Electrical Engineer assumes responsible charge over assigned projects, ensuring code compliance, design integrity, and high-quality engineering outcomes.
In addition to project leadership responsibilities, this position oversees and mentors offshore engineering teams, managing production workflows, technical coordination, staffing alignment, and quality standards across distributed project teams. The role acts as a key liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal leadership, driving successful project execution while advancing firmwide engineering standards, innovation, and professional development initiatives. This position requires strong leadership, advanced technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to manage complex project challenges in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions
- Lead, manage, and participate in selection of offshore electrical engineering production teams, including assignment delegation, workflow coordination, technical oversight, and quality assurance across multiple concurrent projects.
- Establish clear communication protocols, production standards, and delivery expectations between domestic and offshore project teams to ensure schedule alignment and technical consistency.
- Review, mentor, and approve offshore team deliverables, ensuring adherence to firm standards, applicable codes, project requirements, and QAQC procedures.
- Coordinate staffing utilization and production planning for offshore resources in collaboration with project managers, discipline leadership, and operations teams.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between offshore design teams and internal project leadership, resolving design questions, workflow issues, and coordination challenges.
- Develop scalable processes, documentation standards, and training initiatives that support efficient integration of offshore engineering resources into project delivery workflows.
- Monitor offshore team performance metrics related to quality, responsiveness, productivity, and technical accuracy, providing coaching and corrective guidance as needed.
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for assigned projects, assuming responsible charge for electrical system design, technical accuracy, code compliance, and signed/sealed construction documents where licensed.
- Review and approve final electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering deliverables prior to issuance for permit, bidding, and construction.
- Maintain accountability for compliance with applicable building codes, energy codes, life safety standards, and jurisdictional requirements across assigned projects.
- Participate in client presentations, authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) meetings, and construction coordination discussions as the responsible engineering representative for electrical scope.
- Provide leadership in managing technical risk, design liability, and engineering decision-making associated with projects under responsible charge.
- Mentor junior engineers and electrical designers, providing real-time coaching, delegation guidance, and professional development support.
- Collaborate with project managers and firm leadership on fee development, staffing strategies, and discipline resourcing for electrical work.
- Lead technical segments of meetings with clients, building officials, and consultants, communicating electrical design direction and resolving complex issues.
- Guide electrical response strategies to field conditions, code conflicts, and VE proposals with clarity and ownership.
- Influence client expectations around quality, performance, technical decisions, and lifecycle outcomes of electrical systems.

Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Harley Ellis Devereaux operates on projects requiring licensed engineering oversight. Having your foreign credentials evaluated by NCESS or a NCEES-recognized evaluator before you apply strengthens your candidacy and signals you're on a path to U.S. licensure.
Target roles tied to active project pipelines
Architecture and engineering firms sponsor visas when project demand justifies headcount. Research Harley Ellis Devereaux's recent building and infrastructure work to target openings tied to active phases, where hiring timelines and sponsorship decisions move faster.
Use Migrate Mate to find current Electrical Engineer openings
Electrical Engineer roles at Harley Ellis Devereaux don't always stay open long. Use Migrate Mate to filter and browse their current sponsorship-eligible postings so you're applying to live roles, not outdated listings.
Clarify H-1B transfer eligibility before your first interview
If you're already in the U.S. on an H-1B with another employer, Harley Ellis Devereaux can file an H-1B transfer petition. You can begin working as soon as USCIS receives the petition, so clarify your current status upfront to avoid delays.
Understand the PERM timeline for EB-2 and EB-3 paths
If Harley Ellis Devereaux pursues a Green Card for you via EB-2 or EB-3, the process starts with a DOL PERM labor certification. That stage alone can take a year or more, so ask about long-term sponsorship intent during the offer stage, not after you've started.
Document your MEP and systems experience precisely
Electrical Engineers at architecture and engineering firms work across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination. Your resume and visa petition both benefit from documenting specific building systems experience, software proficiency like Revit or AutoCAD MEP, and project types by building category.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Harley Ellis Devereaux sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Harley Ellis Devereaux has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The firm operates in architecture and engineering, where specialized technical roles routinely qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria. If you're already on an H-1B, they can also file a transfer petition, letting you start work once USCIS receives the filing.
Which visa types are commonly used for Electrical Engineer roles at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa for Electrical Engineer roles at Harley Ellis Devereaux. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, the firm has also sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions, which require a DOL PERM labor certification as the first step. Your eligibility for each path depends on your degree, experience level, and country of birth.
What qualifications and experience does Harley Ellis Devereaux expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Harley Ellis Devereaux typically looks for a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, consistent with H-1B specialty occupation requirements. Hands-on experience with building systems, MEP coordination, and tools like Revit or AutoCAD MEP is valued. Progress toward a Professional Engineer license strengthens your application, particularly for senior-level openings.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
You can browse and apply for Electrical Engineer roles at Harley Ellis Devereaux through Migrate Mate, which surfaces sponsorship-eligible openings at firms with verified sponsorship track records. Applying through a platform that filters for visa sponsorship saves time and ensures you're targeting roles where international candidates are genuinely considered.
How do I manage timing if I need H-1B sponsorship at Harley Ellis Devereaux?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS only accepts them once per year with an April 1 filing window for an October 1 start date. Plan your job search with that cycle in mind. If you're transferring an existing H-1B, the timeline is faster. Raise sponsorship eligibility and timing early in the interview process so both sides can plan accordingly.
