Certify Your EPA 608 Before Applying
CBRE's HVAC roles almost always require EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling. Having this credential documented and current before you apply removes a common early objection and signals you're ready to work from day one.
Target CBRE Facilities Management Contracts
CBRE manages long-term facilities contracts for large commercial buildings, hospitals, and campuses. These accounts generate the most stable HVAC headcount and are where sponsorship decisions are most likely approved at the regional manager level.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsoring HVAC Openings
Not every CBRE HVAC posting will explicitly mention sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for CBRE roles that align with your visa type, so you're only spending time on openings where sponsorship is actually on the table.
Get Your Foreign Credentials Evaluated Before the Offer Stage
If your HVAC training or trade qualifications came from outside the U.S., have them evaluated by a NACES-member organization before you receive an offer. CBRE's HR team will need to confirm equivalency before initiating any DOL or USCIS filing.

Find HVAC Technician at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for HVAC Technicians?
Yes, CBRE does sponsor H-1B visas for HVAC Technicians, though sponsorship is typically tied to specific roles and regional business needs rather than being automatic across all postings. Because H-1B sponsorship requires demonstrating a specialty occupation, your application is stronger when the role involves complex building management systems, controls integration, or supervisory technical work rather than routine maintenance.
How do I apply for HVAC Technician jobs at CBRE?
You can apply directly through CBRE's careers portal, where HVAC Technician openings are listed by region and account type. Migrate Mate also aggregates CBRE HVAC roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify postings where sponsorship is realistically available before you invest time in the application process.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for HVAC Technician roles?
CBRE sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for qualifying HVAC Technicians, as well as TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals where the role meets occupational criteria. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, CBRE has also filed through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based Green Card pathways. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates in engineering or facilities-related programs may also be considered for relevant roles.
What qualifications and experience does CBRE expect for HVAC Technician roles?
CBRE typically requires EPA Section 608 certification and hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units, and building automation controls. Roles tied to large facilities contracts often expect five or more years of experience. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems strengthens your profile significantly for sponsored positions.
How do I understand the timeline for getting sponsored by CBRE as an HVAC Technician?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category. TN visas for eligible nationals can be processed at the border within a day. H-1B sponsorship requires USCIS lottery registration in March for an October 1 start date, unless CBRE files for cap-exempt processing. PERM-based Green Card cases filed through DOL typically add one to two years before a Green Card is issued, so plan accordingly from the point of your job offer.
