Align your credentials to CBRE's project types
CBRE fills HVAC Engineer roles across commercial fit-outs, data center MEP systems, and portfolio facilities management. Tailor your resume to the specific environment you're targeting, because hiring managers screen for system type and sector experience, not just mechanical engineering credentials.
Get your PE license process started early
Many CBRE HVAC roles in project delivery and engineering advisory prefer or require a Professional Engineer license. If you're on OPT or a TN visa, begin your state PE application immediately since the timeline can exceed your available work authorization window.
Understand how TN status applies here
Canadian and Mexican engineers qualify for TN visa status under NAFTA successor rules without going through the H-1B lottery. CBRE's construction and real estate operations frequently place engineers in roles that satisfy the DOL's mechanical engineer classification for TN eligibility.
Target CBRE's facilities management divisions first
CBRE's Global Workplace Solutions and Real Estate Investments divisions post HVAC roles with recurring demand, not just project-based openings. These divisions sponsor across multiple visa categories and typically run structured hiring cycles tied to portfolio contract renewals rather than one-off project needs.
Clarify H-1B filing responsibility before accepting an offer
For H-1B sponsorship, CBRE as the petitioner files Form I-129 with USCIS and bears the associated fees. Confirm during negotiation whether they use premium processing, since the standard timeline can affect your start date if you're transitioning from OPT or another status.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
CBRE posts HVAC Engineer openings across regions with varying sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles that match your visa category so you're applying where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job listing.

Find Hvac Engineer at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Hvac Engineers?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for HVAC Engineer roles, particularly within its facilities management and project delivery divisions. Sponsorship is most common for specialized roles involving commercial MEP systems, data center environments, or large portfolio management. H-1B sponsorship is employer-initiated, so CBRE files the petition with USCIS on your behalf after extending an offer.
How do I apply for Hvac Engineer jobs at CBRE?
You can search and apply for HVAC Engineer positions directly through CBRE's careers portal or find visa-filtered openings through Migrate Mate, which lets you browse roles by sponsorship type. When applying, align your experience to the specific CBRE division, whether that's Global Workplace Solutions, project management, or real estate investment services, since each has distinct HVAC requirements.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Hvac Engineer roles?
CBRE sponsors across several categories for HVAC Engineers: H-1B and H-1B1 for specialty occupation hires, TN for Canadian and Mexican engineers, F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates currently in U.S. degree programs, J-1 for exchange-based roles, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. The visa type offered typically depends on your nationality, education level, and the specific role.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for Hvac Engineer positions?
CBRE typically expects a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, with hands-on experience in HVAC system design, commissioning, or facilities management. Roles in project delivery often require familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit MEP. Senior positions frequently prefer or require a Professional Engineer license, and experience with energy management systems or LEED-certified buildings strengthens your application significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a CBRE Hvac Engineer role?
Timeline depends on the visa type. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at a port of entry in a single day. H-1B processing under standard USCIS timelines takes three to six months, though premium processing reduces that to roughly 15 business days. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 can take one to several years depending on your country of birth and current USCIS and DOL backlogs.
