Align your credentials to U.S. standards early
Garver hires Electrical Engineers for licensed professional environments. Get your foreign degree evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before applying so your qualifications map clearly to U.S. bachelor's-level requirements that support specialty occupation filings.
Target Garver's infrastructure and public-sector openings
Garver's Electrical Engineer roles frequently support government-funded transportation, water, and facilities projects. These positions carry strong specialty occupation standing, which matters when your employer builds the H-1B petition around a clearly defined engineering discipline.
Understand which visa fits your current status
Garver sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT among others. If you're finishing an engineering degree in the U.S., CPT or OPT lets you start while an H-1B petition is prepared. TN is available if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship.
Ask about PERM sponsorship during offer negotiations
Garver has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require a PERM labor certification through DOL before the immigrant petition. Raise this in offer conversations so you understand the firm's internal timeline and how it aligns with your long-term authorization needs.
Build out your PE licensure path before interviewing
Many Electrical Engineer roles at consulting firms like Garver require or strongly prefer a Professional Engineer license or active pursuit of one. Demonstrating progress toward your PE signals long-term commitment and strengthens the specialty occupation case your employer files with USCIS.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Garver operates in consulting and infrastructure, where clearly scoped engineering roles tend to support strong H-1B petitions. You'll want an offer in hand well before the April filing window, as USCIS runs a lottery for cap-subject petitions.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Garver?
Apply directly through Garver's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse Electrical Engineer openings at Garver filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your resume to highlight project-specific experience relevant to Garver's focus areas, such as power systems, facilities, or infrastructure. If you're on OPT or CPT, note your authorization status and end date in your application so the recruiting team can plan accordingly.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
Garver sponsors a range of visa categories for Electrical Engineers, including H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories. The right visa depends on your citizenship, education stage, and how long you've been in the U.S. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering roles without a lottery. H-1B is the most common path for other nationalities.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Electrical Engineer positions?
Garver's Electrical Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, and many positions at the mid or senior level expect active pursuit of or attainment of a Professional Engineer license. Project experience in power distribution, facility electrical systems, or public infrastructure carries weight in their consulting environment. Foreign degrees are generally accepted but should be evaluated by a NACES-accredited evaluator to confirm equivalency.
How do I handle the H-1B timeline when targeting a role at Garver?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for a cap-subject petition, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you're on F-1 OPT, you may be able to bridge the gap using the OPT cap-gap extension while your petition is pending. Engage Garver's HR team early, before January if possible, so the offer, Labor Condition Application filed through DOL, and petition are ready before the registration window opens.
