Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Team Lead roles at Garver sit at the intersection of technical expertise and project oversight. Before applying, confirm your degree field maps directly to your target discipline, engineering, planning, or a related specialty, since USCIS scrutinizes this alignment for H-1B petitions.
Target Garver openings that list direct reports
Garver posts Team Lead roles across multiple practice areas. Prioritize listings that explicitly describe supervisory scope and client-facing accountability, since these details strengthen the specialty occupation argument your employer will need to make during the H-1B or PERM filing process.
Ask about LCA timing before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition. Confirm with Garver's HR team when they plan to initiate that step so your start date doesn't get compressed by filing delays.
Clarify OPT cap-gap coverage if you're on F-1
If Garver files your H-1B before your OPT expires and you're still awaiting the October 1 start date, your F-1 cap-gap extension covers continued employment. Verify with Garver's immigration counsel that your I-20 and EAD reflect the correct extension period before your OPT end date.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Garver Team Lead listings
Garver posts Team Lead openings across practice areas and regions that aren't always easy to track. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Garver roles that align with your visa type and discipline, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring framework.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history before interviews
If Garver pursues permanent residence for your Team Lead role through PERM, DOL requires a detailed audit of your prior experience and credentials. Organize certified transcripts, prior employer letters, and any professional licensure documentation before the process starts to avoid delays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Team Leads?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Team Lead positions. The company operates across engineering and consulting disciplines where H-1B specialty occupation requirements are well-established. Your degree field will need to align with the specific Team Lead role you're applying for, since USCIS evaluates that connection as part of the petition review.
How do I apply for Team Lead jobs at Garver?
You can apply through Garver's careers portal, where Team Lead openings are listed by practice area and location. For a faster way to find roles that are open to visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate aggregates Garver's Team Lead listings and lets you filter by visa type, so you can focus your applications on positions that fit your situation.
Which visa types does Garver commonly sponsor for Team Lead roles?
Garver sponsors multiple visa categories for Team Lead positions, including H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in or recently completing degree programs. For longer-term pathways, Garver also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship and J-1 visa exchange visitor visas depending on the role and candidate profile.
What qualifications does Garver expect for a Team Lead position?
Garver's Team Lead roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, combined with meaningful project management or supervisory experience. Many openings also expect professional licensure or progress toward it. The stronger your alignment between degree field, years of experience, and the specific practice area, the more clearly your profile supports a visa sponsorship case.
How do I understand the timeline for visa sponsorship at Garver?
For H-1B sponsorship, Garver would file during the annual cap registration window in March, with an October 1 start date if selected. TN and F-1 OPT transfers can move faster. PERM-based Green Card cases through DOL typically take longer and depend on your priority date and country of birth. Discussing expected timelines with Garver's HR or immigration counsel early in the offer process helps you plan realistically.
