Align your testing background with AV safety standards
Zoox QA roles prioritize experience with functional safety frameworks like ISO 26262 and SOTIF. Documenting your hands-on work with safety-critical software validation or hardware-in-the-loop testing strengthens your application before you ever submit it.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open QA Engineer roles at Zoox
Search Zoox's QA openings by visa type directly on Migrate Mate. This saves you from applying to roles where your specific authorization isn't supported and lets you focus on positions with confirmed sponsorship history for your category.
Time your OPT application to cover Zoox's hiring timeline
F-1 students targeting Zoox should file the OPT EAD application with USCIS 90 days before their program end date. Autonomous vehicle hiring cycles often run 8 to 12 weeks, so early filing prevents a gap between your start date and work authorization.
Prepare a specialty occupation case for your QA role
For H-1B petitions, Zoox's immigration team will need to establish that the QA Engineer position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Gather documentation linking your degree discipline directly to AV testing, validation, or systems engineering.
Negotiate offer timing around the H-1B cap and October start
H-1B cap filings open in March for an October 1 start. If you receive a Zoox offer in late spring or summer, work with their immigration counsel to determine whether a cap-exempt entity or change of status from OPT covers the gap before your petition becomes effective.

Find QA Engineer at Zoox JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for QA Engineers?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for QA Engineers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the requirement for a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field. Your employer petition goes through USCIS, and if you're subject to the annual cap, the lottery runs each March for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types are commonly used for QA Engineer roles at Zoox?
Zoox files across a wide range of visa categories for QA Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for current students, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and current status.
What qualifications and experience does Zoox expect from QA Engineer candidates?
Zoox QA Engineer roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or systems engineering. Practical experience with test automation frameworks, software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop testing, and safety-critical validation is valued. Familiarity with autonomous vehicle sensor stacks, ROS, or simulation environments strengthens your profile significantly for these roles.
How do I apply for QA Engineer jobs at Zoox?
You can browse open QA Engineer positions at Zoox and filter by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles with confirmed sponsorship history. Once you identify a match, apply directly through Zoox's careers portal. The process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical assessments covering testing methodology and automation, and multiple engineering interviews before an offer is extended.
How do I plan my timeline if I'm on F-1 OPT and targeting a QA Engineer role at Zoox?
File your OPT EAD application with USCIS up to 90 days before your program end date and request a start date that aligns with Zoox's hiring cycle. If Zoox extends an offer while you're on OPT, they can file an H-1B petition on your behalf in March. STEM OPT extension gives you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which covers one full H-1B lottery cycle if you don't get selected the first year.
