Document your safety-critical testing experience
Zoox's SQA roles require demonstrable experience with safety validation in complex software environments. Gather artifacts showing your work on fault detection, regression testing, or functional safety standards like ISO 26262 before you apply.
Target roles tied to autonomous systems validation
Zoox hires SQA engineers specifically to validate perception, planning, and control software. Applying to roles that explicitly mention simulation testing or hardware-in-the-loop validation positions you closer to the core work they're sponsoring for.
Clarify your visa category early in interviews
Zoox sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category applies to your nationality before your first recruiter call lets you confirm fit quickly and avoid late-stage surprises in the offer process.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires that your degree field directly relate to the SQA role. A computer science or software engineering degree maps cleanly, but a more general degree may require additional documentation showing how your coursework supports quality assurance work in autonomous vehicle systems.
Use Migrate Mate to find open SQA roles at Zoox
Zoox posts SQA openings across teams at different hiring stages. Search Migrate Mate to browse current Software Quality Assurance positions at Zoox filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're only applying where sponsorship is actively supported.
Understand OPT timing relative to Zoox's hiring cycles
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window before accepting an offer. Zoox's onboarding and any subsequent H-1B filing timeline need to fit within your available OPT period, including any STEM OPT extension you're eligible for.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Software Quality Assurances?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Software Quality Assurance roles. SQA positions at Zoox typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as computer science or software engineering. Zoox has a consistent history of filing H-1B petitions for technical roles, and SQA engineers fall within that sponsored population.
How do I apply for Software Quality Assurance jobs at Zoox?
You can find and apply for Software Quality Assurance roles at Zoox through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight experience with safety-critical software validation, automated testing frameworks, and any exposure to autonomous or embedded systems, since those align directly with Zoox's core product work.
Which visa types does Zoox commonly sponsor for Software Quality Assurance roles?
Zoox sponsors several visa categories for SQA engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 or EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your nationality and immigration history.
What qualifications does Zoox expect for Software Quality Assurance roles?
Zoox's SQA roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, along with hands-on experience in test automation, continuous integration pipelines, and safety validation. Experience with simulation environments, C++ or Python test frameworks, and functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 is frequently mentioned in their job descriptions and strengthens both your application and your visa petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving a Zoox offer?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and TN visas can often be processed in a matter of weeks, making them faster paths for eligible applicants. H-1B sponsorship is subject to the annual lottery, which runs in March for an October 1 start date, so timing your offer around that cycle matters. USCIS premium processing is available for H-1B petitions and can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days.
