Customer is a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic systems for the automotive industry. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to serve as the company’s highest technical authority and to define, lead, and execute the long-term technology vision of the organization. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for all technical strategy, engineering execution, and technology governance across hardware, software, systems, and manufacturing technologies. This role is critical to ensuring Enterprise Electronics delivers safe, reliable, compliant, and innovative products at automotive scale while anticipating future industry shifts in electrification, autonomy, connectivity, and software-defined vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership:
- Define and own the company’s long-term technology vision and roadmap aligned with overall business strategy.
- Serve as the principal technical advisor to the President, executive team, and other stakeholders.
- Drive innovation while balancing cost, quality, reliability, safety, and time-to-market.
- Anticipate emerging automotive and electronics technologies and guide strategic investment decisions.
Engineering & Product Development:
- Provide executive oversight of all engineering disciplines, including:
- Hardware (analog, digital, power electronics, sensors)
- Embedded software and firmware
- Systems engineering and architecture
- Electro-mechanical design packages
- Validation, verification, and testing
- Ensure product architectures meet automotive requirements for safety, performance, scalability, and lifecycle support.
- Establish best-in-class engineering processes, tools, and development standards.
- Oversee technical execution from concept through production launch and sustained manufacturing.
Automotive Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and regulations, including but not limited to:
- ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
- ASPICE
- IATF 16949
- Cybersecurity standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434)
- Champion a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all technical teams.
- Act as executive sponsor for safety-critical and mission-critical programs.
Manufacturing & Operations Support:
- Partner closely with operations and manufacturing leadership to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, testability, and cost.
- Support global manufacturing, supplier qualification, and component lifecycle management.
- Guide technical decisions related to yield, reliability, and field performance.
Talent & Organization Development:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global engineering organization.
- Develop technical leadership succession and attract top engineering talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
