This is a multi-level posting, and will be filled at the appropriate level based on education and experience.
ABOUT THE JOB
Provides engineering services for the design and construction of high voltage line project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Provides technical project management for certain phases of a high voltage line project including scheduling, design, cost estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. Assists with engineering studies and investigations and assists with preparing oral and written reports. Provides high voltage engineering assistance to other departments. Provides technical input to assist in project planning. Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within high voltage line projects and assisting engineering staff on more complex projects. This is the entry engineer skill level position in high voltage engineering.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. (50%)
- Provide technical project management for certain phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (20%)
- Assist with engineering studies and investigations and assist with preparing oral and written reports. (20%)
- Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)
- Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Engineer 1
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Engineer 2
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. One to three years of engineering experience. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Sr Engineer
Engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 5 years industry experience. PE license preferred.
Sr Engineer 2
Engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 8 years industry experience. Requires PE. If no PE license, must have 10 years as a practicing engineer.
Principal Engineer
Engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 15 years industry experience as a practicing engineer, including experience performing highly technical work of specialized nature. Requires PE.
