JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Program Architect, you will work with project teams in a dynamic, rapid-growth work environment with bright and talented engineers, architects, designers, builders, crafters, and manufacturers to improve and deploy a prototype building program and to build an alternative to the traditional construction industry. From desk to factory floor to job sites and client meetings, you will be challenged to develop your skills in a new field, taking a critical role in project delivery via the DMC methodology.

MEP Engineering Manager Position Overview
The MEP Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers responsible for the design, coordination, and execution of building systems across multiple construction and manufacturing projects. This role provides technical leadership, ensures engineering quality and compliance, and drives collaboration across design, manufacturing, and construction teams to deliver efficient, high-performing building systems. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, deep technical expertise in MEP systems, and a proven ability to manage complex projects within fast-paced design-build or manufacturing environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of MEP engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
- Establish engineering standards, workflows, and best practices across MEP disciplines.
- Manage team workload, project assignments, and resource planning.
- Support professional development and performance management initiatives.
Engineering Design & Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical leadership for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system design.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Oversee system integration and coordination across building systems and disciplines.
- Ensure designs support constructability, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.
Project Delivery & Coordination:
- Collaborate with architectural, structural, manufacturing, and construction teams to support project execution.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and design phase coordination.
- Support design-build and modular/offsite construction workflows.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Assist with resolving field issues, RFIs, and design modifications.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering standards.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control processes for engineering deliverables.
- Identify opportunities for system standardization and continuous improvement.
- Support development of engineering documentation, specifications, and design libraries.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement:
- Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and external engineering partners.
- Participate in design reviews and technical presentations with stakeholders.
- Support value engineering initiatives and cost optimization strategies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in MEP engineering, building systems design, or related field.
- 3+ years of leadership or team management experience.
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, power distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and controls systems.
- Experience supporting design-build, industrial, healthcare, or commercial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
- Experience in modular, offsite, or prefabricated construction environments.
- Experience with healthcare or mission-critical facility design.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and building performance validation.
- Experience working with BIM and building systems modeling tools.
- Experience leading engineering teams supporting manufacturing or production environments.
