Job Summary
For planning and engineering projects/initiatives, coordinate and direct employee teams providing guidance and leadership for assigned activities, assuring that the results meet corporate needs and are aligned with strategy. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, leading, monitoring and control, reporting, and budgeting activities for the projects. These activities will be executed in a manner that ensures application of technically and economically appropriate engineering solutions. Consideration shall be given to employee and public safety, compliance, system reliability, standardization, ease of operation, and timely project completion within approved project schedules and authorized budgets.

What You’ll Do:
Essential Job Functions & Tasks

Provide engineering project management support to the Planning and Engineering organizations. Specifically, manage and execute the special project and cross-functional needs of these organizations in the execution of their Capital and O&M plans.

Effectively organize effort and address the need for efficient solutions, standardization, and promotion of best practice, timely solutions and effective use of resources. Support process improvement efforts related to Standards, production processes and compliance. Needs to have the ability to identify the “best for AEP” solution that considers all cross-functional implications.

Leads, facilitates and coordinates the work activities of others within the work group. Reaches outs and communicates across boundaries and effectively manages change. Effectively coordinate needs and support of planning and engineering groups and other project management, operations, construction and maintenance groups impacted by the initiatives.

Develop project estimates and internal budgets for assigned activities. Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to complex problems that require multi-functional or organizational interfacing and/or multi-disciplined analytical techniques.

Develops plans for identifying and mitigating risks associated with effort. Reaches outs and communicates across boundaries and effectively manages change. Possesses the authority and knowledge to make some technical decisions based on calculated risks without management review.

Identifies and presents to management key decisions affecting strategy and execution. Ensures all work activities are performed according to plan and established schedules, in accordance with policies, practices, standards and rules of the Company and in compliance with regulations and procedures required by external agencies.

Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing. Presents to management and others clear and concise communications regarding effort, progress and results.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET* accredited institution; degree preference is in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil engineering
OR
- Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternatives are:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S.
OR
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
Work Experience:

Typically has acquired 7 or more years' experience in Transmission engineering, construction or operations, or other equivalent related experience such as Distribution or Generation engineering, construction or operations experience.

Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively supervise and direct the work of assigned personnel and the ability to effectively and professionally deal with co-workers and customers is required.

Professional Engineer license desired.

PMP or equivalent preferred.

$116,255.00 - $151,132.50
