INTRODUCTION
The Sr. Security Systems Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of electronic security systems across the organization. This role ensures the reliability, functionality, and security of systems such as access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related technologies.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with enterprise security platforms, including Genetec (Security Center), and demonstrates strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment.
This position collaborates with internal stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to support system integrations, resolve technical issues, and implement security solutions that align with organizational standards and compliance requirements.
Position is on site.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Day to day management and maintenance of the Boys Town physical safety and security systems.
- Configures, maintains and troubleshoots physical security systems issues. Coordinates card access control systems, key controls, security cameras and alarm systems.
- Utilizing a strategic method, plans and implements new systems or utilizes existing systems to enhance the security posture across the organization.
- Works closely with the Systems Specialist, Assistant Systems Specialist, and Key coordinator to ensure the work load across the department is being done in the most efficient manner.
- Maintains various security programs.
- Documents and maintains all of the procedures and guidelines for the security team to ensure that all employee access, burglary, robbery, alarm and video surveillance-related systems and protocols are being followed properly.
- Communicates with both internal teams and external vendors to coordinate onsite inspections, equipment maintenance, department meetings and trainings with respect to safety and security. Monitors vendors who provide operational support.
- Notifies security team of any incidents that need to be investigated and dispatches security resources if necessary.
- Runs security reports.
- Maintains, prioritizes and files confidential records.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to promote and maintain excellent public relations with patients, visitors and all employees and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to quickly assess situations and respond appropriately.
- Administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to detect, respond, and report all unsafe conditions accordingly, as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work rotating shifts; including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed required.
- Obtain and maintain certification in the Genetec System within six months of transfer or hire required.
- Minimum three years of experience working with access control or surveillance security systems required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in Security, Military, or Law Enforcement preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position requires low to moderate physical activity. Occasional standing, walking, climbing and reaching overhead. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 20 lbs. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
