The Tax Analyst is a key member of the Financial Accounting and Reporting team at Boston University. This position reports to the Supervisor of Tax and Reporting. This position has the potential to work a hybrid schedule under the University's remote work guidelines.
Major duties of this position include:
- Compile and analyze financial data from our SAP accounting system to support the preparation of annual Federal Form 990, Form 990-T, state, and international tax filings.
- Gather information from university departments to support annual Form 990, Form 990-T, state, and international tax filings.
- Compile and analyze financial data to prepare monthly and quarterly tax filings such as Excise Tax, Sales & Meals Tax and others.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with key departments such as the Investment Office, Research Operations and the Office of Global Programs.
- Coordinate responses to inquiries and requests for information from key departments.
- Assist in researching various Federal, state, and international tax issues.
- Other duties as needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission, and support our team.
Pay Range:
Minimum $51,800, Midpoint $70,00, Maximum $88,100. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- Advanced Excel skills, including using complex formulas to analyze data.
- Ability to analyze data to draw relevant conclusions and suggest appropriate actions to management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and ad-hoc requests to meet or exceed deadlines.
- Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, intellectually curious.
- Experience in non-profit or education sector
- Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning system, such as SAP.
- Experience preparing non-profit or other entity tax filings.
